In Singapore if you go on the lot to buy a new car how long does it usually take before you can drive it home?

What it lacks in finesse it makes up for in a certain functional charm.

The hostage situation ended with 8 death. Saw the Philippine Police video footage they could had a sniper shoot the perpetrator when he released the first older man right in-front the the bus entry. (had his M16 strap on shoulder pointing downward and is wide open view for sniper) again thats just IMHO. Others might have different opinions.:( Prayer to the families.

Spate Of Crashes Sparks Ferrari 'Jinx' Fears
    Share23 Share Comments (8)12:25pm UK, Tuesday August 24, 2010

    Ruth Barnett, Sky News Online

Drivers of a new Ferrari supercar have been left fearing they are jinxed after 10 of the vehicles crashed or caught fire within three months.

The £170,000 Ferrari 458 Italia launched to high acclaim in the spring and only a few hundred have been sold so far.

But since the cars went on sale, six have been involved in accidents, three have caught fire and one was destroyed when a warehouse went up in flames.

Four of the incidents happened in the last 10 days.

It is not thought that the 458 design has a fault, just that the owners have been unusually unlucky.

It's not uncommon for new exotic models to start off with a few crashes ... although the 458 does have a higher than normal crash count so far.

Greg Carlson, founder of Wrecked Exotics
The first crash took place in May in Poland when a young driver swerved to avoid a bus. Incidents have also been reported in Spain, the Czech Republic, France, Italy and the United States.

In the UK, one Ferrari 458 Italia, which has a top speed of 202mph, hit a barrier on a wet road in Marlow, Buckinghamshire.

Another, which had been customised with a Dolce and Gabbana interior, was damaged in a warehouse blaze after it was flown from Saudi Arabia to London Heathrow.

The spate of incidents was uncovered by website Wrecked Exotics, which logs accidents involving high-end cars including Lamborghinis, Porsches and Bugattis.

Website founder Greg Carlson said there had been more crashes involving the latest Ferrari than he expected.

"It's not uncommon for new exotic models to start off with a few crashes, owners are getting the feel for the new car, some are taking it beyond their skill level, although the 458 does have a higher than normal crash count so far," he said.

Ferrari has declined to comment but is understood to be investigating the fire-related incidents.

DM18 - it only looks silly if you forget to wear a helmet too. Then you look like a badass stig and even the minibuses will get out of your way.

3 have caught fire unexpectedly and burned to the ground, while the rest have been involved in crashes and freak accidents due to negligence and or just very bad luck, that 458 with the dolce interior caught in the massive cargo warehouse fire was just the worst luck anyone could ever have.

I would be slightly worried about the engines catching fire, but then again people said this happened on the 430 spiders when you put the top back up after a hard drive. Always something to do with oil getting splattering around the engine bay.

I wonder if Ferrari has gone back to work yet, if not maybe by the beginning of next week.

C'mon! Didnt you always want to dress up as a Fireman? You could have a nice shiny bell on the roof of the 458 too. I presume it is in Fire Engine Red?

Seriously though, from the other threads it seems as though Ferrari do have some kind of "breather pipe" upgrade mod, so lets see where that goes. Its probably like an "F-Duct" on the F1 cars where you have to move your knee to blow more air into the engine bay. <joking>

Yes this is correct Paul... the upgrade campaign is happening to all cars. They are replacing the "pipe" which points inwards.. Is suppose to point OUTWARDS away from the engine.

A couple fire extinguishers are a cheap investment. Halon ones are ideal but I'm not sure if you can buy them anymore. You can buy/fabricate a mounting bracket, or just duct tape the two extinguishers to each other so they don't roll around.

Yes Halon BTM fire suppression is not allowed for its ozone depletion characteristics, but have been replaced by similar, but safer/eco-friendly inert gas suppression systems using, for one, the Du Pont FM200 "clean agent" waterless inert gas fire suppression systems. Like Halon, you dont get foam or water all over your equipment!

Not sure how small the smallest propellant cylinders are that you can buy as we only use big systems in our telephone exchanges and data centres, but I would imagine they make small self contained automatic versions for boats etc.

.....but duct tape in a 458????
I thought I was bad having an iPod interface "fly lead" coming out of the dashboard on the SA!!
    Sounds good though!

Come on, I know I'm a cheap bastard, but I do pay the extra $2 a roll for RED duct tape!
