Red/Black
Gullwing is nice to look at but HOS to drive, it's like sitting in a toaster, roadster is like driving a modern day car.
Yep, that definitely seems to be the consensus. MB sorted the rear end of the roadster so that the rear wheels would not 'jack-up'/change camber and spit you into the scenery if you lifted off mid-corner. Also easier to get into and out of, and not a hot house. I love them both, and if I had the $$$ I'd have one of each. Is the car you painted one of the last built with disc brakes?
I love the US-spec headlights. Is it an ex-US car? Feel free not to answer if you're not comfortable giving details publicly.
The car did come from the US and did show signs of being raced, the current owner was looking into the full history just as I finished it for him, he purchased it here in OZ via auction so I dont think he spoke a great deal with the previous owner. It does appear to be pretty hard to trace the history of these cars that went from town to town for racing purposes. The car is coming back to me shortly to get cleaned up for Motorclassica so I will see what more I can find out. The good thing with this car is that the owner restored to drive it and not store it away somewhere, not long after we completed it he drove it over to SA and competed in Classic Adelaide, he's now planning to take it over to Goodwood and The Nurburgring historic event.
It's garaged near by, the owner has promised me a day out in it, maybe we will come on one of you're carby runs.
Like GH would ever waste his time talking to you. He bought one of my Ducatis. Reg was riding the first motor bike i ever went on the back of....oh bj.....name dropping IS fun lol
