Guys, my wife and I are flying in for our 9th year Anniversary and I was wondering where we should be eating. So far I have made two reservations. One for Joes at East Grand and the other at Coco Pazzo on West Hubbard. Are there other nicer places to eat? I still need something for Thursday night. I know the Tall Ships will be in town so we are going to head over to the Pier and watch the fireworks. Anything else we should do?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Marlon, when are you coming to chicago? Any specific food? Where are you staying? I would absolutely check out Piccolo Sogno, ask for an outside table if possible. Reservations there are TOUGH, but sometimes on opentable.com you can get lucky. The Publican on Fulton has tremendous reviews, but I have not eaten there yet. If you want something really different, the thai/sushi at Butterfly on fulton is great. crowded, loud, BYO if you want, sushi, thai, communal tables, wild place, but good food. be prepared its NOT fancy though! For something hip, elegant and different, Mercat A La Planxa is a spanish Tapas place that is great! small plates, you can try several things, good people watching, its in the Blackstone hotel on michigan and balbo. try the serrano ham salad, the ribeye and the shortrib and scallops! For night, Id say the Vertigo lounge at the dana hotel or the rooftop at the Wit hotel, are great places to start. Cocco Pazzo is ok. For steaks, Id recommend Capital Grille. For an intimate authentic italian meal from a 4 star michelin chef, Id recommend Pelago. Small, quiet, intimate good food. for breakfast, Tempo at chestnut and state, GREAT OMLETTES, sit outside. Lunch while strolling michigan ave, definately try the Grand Luxe Cafe, ask for a window seat overlooking the mag mile, HUGE menu, great desserts and casual/affordable, but can get crowded, but the wait isnt too long. If youre a popcorn fan, you have to get in line at one of the carmel corn stands around the city, youll see the lines. for coffee, there is an authentic italian coffee shop on ohio east of michigan ave called LAVAZZA 162 e ohio. gelatto, pastries, good coffee like in milan or rome. Good Luck!

Paul, I guess I should have posted a little earlier.

We did go to a few of the places you mentioned. We had a great time and the weather this past weekend was superb. Too bad we had an early flight Sunday or I would have come down to the show on Sunday in the village. Our concierge saw me in my Ferrari shirt and told me about it as we were leaving one day. We had a great time. I have to say that Chicago has some of the friendliest people I've ever seen and I have been all over the U.S.! What a great city. Thanks again for your reply.

The weekend was very nice in the city. I was downtown to do the chicago triathlon. Me and 9000 of my fittest friends all over the city sunday am. I missed the shows as well, was a bit hot and dehydrated after racing. Up at 330am and in the water at 607am made it a long day. Let us know if youre back in town!
