M- I bet you can have your HGTE F1 ECU/TCU reflashed to the GTO standard. Odds are the hardware is the same and only the program has slightly changed. Each new F1 program brings improvements in shift smoothness. Shift speed is secondary in importance to me, but a tangible benefit of reflashing.

My pleasure Taz. It's for enthusiasts of the brand (like yourself) that I'm sharing this in this thread ;) Take Jim as an example and his P4/5 Competizione. Do I need to say more! I'm very thankful that he allows us to follow this project and shares his excitement with all of us on this board.

PS: By no means do I wish to place this thread at the same level as the one from Jim and his P4/5 Competizione but we do have one thing in common: passion for Ferrari's.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but is that GTO the 'real deal'?

Yes, but she is still very hot to look at ;) Upper class MILF ;)

Not really but last number I heard was 6 or 7.

Engine + gearbox not 250 GTO. All the rest is GTO and Ferrari certified.

Thanks. But I'm still staying with my original order of the black rims. Still waiting for Ferrari to deliver them ...

Indeed. Christmas morning feeling x 1,000,000

:D Great to 'hear' your enthusiasm.

'Like kids at Christmas' is the expression I use to describe the fun of trackdays, btw. Enjoy in good health. regards

M- Is that the GTO that had the TR engine (0796 rings a bell) and transmission installed at the factory in the 60s?

I think , when I'll buy my first Ferrari, I will request to have it delivered a December 25, by the dealer in Santa Claus Outfit. I'm sure He will agree ahahah

Too bad as this would have looked great. I asked them the question when I was at the Atelier / private presentation of the car back in March 2010 and I got a NONO as well. Seems they haven't changed their mind since. I wonder why.

Thanks to have answered a question I asked myself after seing the 599XX engine for the first time. That carbon airbox is really gorgeous, and I think the GTO really desserves it.

I'm pretty sure they would have done it on a GTB/GTO if the crown prince of Saudi Arabia had asked for it.

Unfortunally for us mere mortals, our dad doesn't control 20% of World Oil lol.

I heard on QT that NO flowed from an internal debate (ok, cat fight) between engineers--the engine guys wanted to use it (or something very similar) on all GTOs. But, were overruled by senior tech guys because of so-called potential reliability/warranty issues, ie, extended use along with high temps in the engine bay.

Sounds bogus to me, at least without better detail.

Anyway, this became an apparent sore point internally--so if a few of us were granted "special dispensation" for the part, well, you understand....

Anyway, who knows...I'm neither the king or crown prince :) so mine will be stock...

I was told the same thing at the factory in April, although all they said then was that the carbon "was unsuitable for road use" so perhaps your detail corroborates that.

I made the final specification decisions for the car today (I've always wanted to get the last Canadian car as who needs it in Canada during the winter?):

    - rosso fuoco
    - grigio silverstone stripe, extended on rear deck
    - full alcantara charcoal interior, red stitch and belts
    - telemetry (new option, no one can tell me about it, but i ticked the box)
    - signed engine surround (by either the guys who built it or by some other Italians - how would I ever know?)
    - rest pretty standard stuff with probably the typical amount of carbon.

they apparently want to build them all this year (all as 2010s) so while I wanted the car in April, looks like it might come in Jan or Feb.

    Congrats...sounds fantastic.

I didn't have "telemetry option" and passed on the engine signatures though in hindsight, wish I'd not.

Its going to be a perfect "bear" coming from hybernation in the Spring...growling and hungry to be thrashed about!

    Enjoy.
