The history of these cars is fascinating!!

How is the progress on 0854, it has been a while since the last update..

Jim, have you ever thought of writing a book on the P3/4 series?
    Would be a definitive musthave!

The headlights did not change in 66 from the presentation car to the race cars. They were changed in 67. The only front end changes made in 66 from the presentation car was the radiator area and the slightly bent up nose opening by the grill area. Here is a shot from Targa Florio which is essentially the same as Sebring. At LeMans they did away with the rear bonnet snorkels and vents, changed a few minor things on the bonnet but also was essentially the same car.

At the Targa in 66 the nose was pulled open to try to get more air to the radiator.

In the P3's they used both ZF's and 593 Ferrari gearboxs. In the P4's/412 P's they used 603 gearboxes. In P 3/4 0846 they used a muled 593 (Brakes moved outboard) for prototyping and then a 603 at Daytona for it's first race.

This car is clearly a carburetted version and I suspect an early chassis although the photo was taken at Daytona 1967. I believe the mechanic is Amadesi?

    0844? I'd have thought by 67 it would have a 603.

Autosport magazine at the time had it that the 412Ps used ZFs until Le Mans when they got pukka Ferrari 603s like the P4s.

Not to correct you again Jim but the nose was pulled open at Sebring first and then left that way for the Targa race which followed. The race pic you showed of the #1 car was Nurburgring which was after Sebring and Targa at which point they put back the grill area opening to the more original prototype look. It stayed that way for LM as well. No matter what they did the car always looked great.

I think an LM is good for 300kmh. Not sure a 275 GTB/C would touch that.

Same motor I think, or do the GTB/C run the 4 cam engine?

Weight would be considerably different, but that affects acceleration and thus obviously top speed on a race track ...
