Wanted to share with you these pics of a 430 Scuderia that was transformed by Pininfarina into a one-off resembling the Lancia Stratos. Hope this is not a repost... that's really neat; I wonder if it'd sell if they were to make more of them. I've always loved the Stratos, very aggressive and beautiful shape. You know instantly that it's a Stratos as no other car that I know of looks like it.
They don't really have a say as far as I'm concerned. The only thing about that car that's F430 is the chassis and engine, I'm sure they would've completely redone the interior too. Think of it as a very, very professional kit car. You don't hear Pontiac crying when people take Fieros and make 308s out of them.
yuk... not a fan at all. why didnt they just take the outside kit and put a ZR1 engine in it.. could have saved a BUNCH of money
I like it a lot, but what I'm curious about is why Pininfarina did this conversion. The Stratos was originally designed by Bertone.
Robert, Jason- That is probably because you are too young to remember the Stratos, which was a muscle-bound Dino 246 with all the overhangs shortened. Taz Terry Phillips
That is really cool. What I don't understand is how they got the Scud to be so small. The original Stratos is a very small car and from these photos, they look pretty much the same.
Same thing they did on the original Stratos. Cut off the F&R overhangs, radically narrowed the body and covered the tires with fender flares rather than fenders. If the weight was cut from the loss of all that sheet-metal, the little thing is probably pretty quick, too. Taz Terry Phillips
In this day and age, to pay homage to a legendary car--in this case the Stratos---and to have it not be bloated fat ugly is a good thing imho. i think it was designed well, respecting the original but with juust the right amount of modern flair. my only gripe is that it doesnt have a V6.
My friend is neighbors with the Gentleman in Germany behind this car, and I have to say, I think they did an incredible job with it.
I'm not sure about this one.. the Lancia Stratos is an iconic car.. So already acquiring an replica does not sound thrilling. If getting your hands on a replica requires sacrificing yet another limited edition 430 Scud the business case is def. off the table!
They are reportedly making 25 of these. You need a donor scud and $600k on top of that. Somehow they expect to increase horsepower to 600 bhp, I believe without forced induction.
