Actually, you need to claim through insurance. Whatever there is a GAP, then you might need to fight with F.

Strongly agree. It would be a real pain to wait then get it and then burn and then wait again... ;-(

I think the only thing more painful than being on a 2+ year waiting list to get your perfectly optioned Ferrari, is watching it burn to the ground mere weeks after taking delivery.

Ferrari should make special arrangements to expedite the customers for replacement instead of getting back on the list and waiting another 2 years.... but then again, there might be a great likelihood that these customers wont buy a Ferrari again. Great for the guys on the list, bad for Ferrari. Whatever the case, I hope that Ferrari takes care of those customers.

Ferrari will take care of their customers, no worries there, no waiting lists. Why would someone switch brands because of a fire? We're not talking transportation here, it's a Ferrari, we're in this together.

I don't believe anyone who received such an early car had to be on a 2 year list.
These guys must be longtime, repeat customers who just always get the "latest,newest..." .
I'm sure they won't be left empty handed....

Is there really a list? I don't think so. I was offered immediate order availabilty from 3 different dealers.

No.. I get mine in Jan. I was on a list for my 360 and 430 but 458's seem to be available for order now.

Jeff makes a good point about the potential problems which could arise between the auto carrier and the homeowner carrier if the house was also a casualty. At the end of the day however,If the proximate cause( legal cause) of the fire was a manufacturing defect in the car then ultimately Ferrari would be legally liable (speaking of US). They would likely wind up reimbursing the carriers and the homeowner/car owner for any other consequential damage not covered under the policies.Ferrari's liability would not be limited and as far as a replacement vehicle is concerned they would have to provide one or pay " loss of use" until the owner has had a reasonable time to get a replacement.Furthermore, the loss of use claim would be based on the value of a 458 and not a lesser vehicle. If any injuries were involved
    It's a whole new ballgame.

In Europe, it is not a recall (yet) but a campaign

I took delivery of my 458 This past Tuesday and asked the dealer about the 458 burning issue. He told me that there is no recall on the 458 and if there is I will be the first one to know.
Appropriate answer to a valid question.

Call back and ask your dealer what "technical information #336" or "campaign 336" is. Unless I'm mistaken, that's what the factory calls the mods they are making to eliminate the possibility of fire breaking out in the engine bay.

My 458 was just in for the TI 336 work. Don't know exactly what was done but parts are available in North America and dealers are ready for the early 458's.
