I entered my '66 E-Type in the Allaire Rolling Iron Car Show yesterday and ended up winning the "Blacksmith Guild" special choice award. Allaire is a historic village centered around iron ore mining, production, and shipping, and was owned by James P. Allaire nearly 200 years ago. The Rolling Iron show is a diverse show that attracts some national-level entrants. This year, the best of show was a 1901 Stanley Locomobile, and there's plenty of cars from all vintages and marques, including Panteras, Ferraris, Austin-Healeys. There were even 2 Durants and a Cord, so competition was tough. Nearly 400 cars were entered, so I was stoked to win one of the special choice awards - I attached some pics of my E-Type. I had a series 2 1971 E-type coupe...red w/ black interior....what a stunning car. Leaked in the rain (yes, coupe....rubber seals were not in perfect condition), had valve guide blowby (think WWII destroyer smoke screen at about 4500 RPM), and some body cancer, but what an amazing cat she was. That straight six was absolutely turbine smooth at all rpm's and she would leap forward in any gear. Sold her to a British diplomat who was heading back to the UK....sent him home with new parts for the rocker panels and a load of spares...sure do wish I still had her. Anyway, yours is beautiful!
Beautiful car. The E type has always been one of my favorities. Congratulations of the award, well deserved!! Don
Thanks all! She's mainly a "driver", but cleans up well. The paint hides the flaws, and from 10 feet it looks great. Needless to say, I was surprised and happy the car was recognized!
