Denis C. and Daryl's Mangustas are both a delight to the eye. Thanks for posting the photos. The Mangusta looks elegant in silver. Availing myself of as many contacts as I can make in Mexico, I'm trying to track down the six Mangustas which were reportedly exported -- new -- to Mexico. So far, I've only definitely identified whereabouts and current custodian of orange 8MA-882, but I'm in hot pursuit of silver, black and white cars, all reportedly in the Mexico City area.
It appears that 8MA-882 and a black Mangusta were both shipped to Mexico simultaneously, along with spare parts.

Nice cars but the mirrors seem out of place, maybe not the easiest car to fit.

These cars left the factory without mirrors or radios. There are some similarities in mirror models ( mine are Vitalone Californias) and locations (maybe because of who did the PDIs) . I am not crazy about mine, I can only say that that is were they were on many period GTs, and have not decided if they will be relocated to the doors (or completely removed) All I can say for sure is for safety reasons they should remain. :)

True enough. The mirrors were applied by the local dealers when the cars were sold new. The cars sold in the LA area tended to have them mounted on the doors (see the Road and Track test article) while the cars sold by the dealer in the SF area (like mine) tended to have them on the fender tops. Fortunately they located mine close enough to the windshield that I have no blind spot whatever. Some cars have them mounted way out front on the fenders where they have too narrow a field of view to be effective and they also break up the lines of the bodywork. The fact is that in person the overall impact of the car's design is strong enough that the mirrors are not such a negative.

velocetwo - always one upping everyone, lol

my opinion, they look BEST with no mirrors, since the design is a masterpiece, so you do have a point

    Well, you got me

Still wouldn't drive without my ugly mirrors, the rear bow and quarter angles give me too many blind spots.

    ..Still laughing

    Nice car Denis.

I see you hang out in Rockcliffe Park. I bought one of my Fiats from a university professor who lived on Acacia Lane.

Yep, you have a whole different issue seeing behind the car with the mid engine.

David, that car has been making the rounds on the internet lately, I have seen youtube video's of it racing as well....how does it do? Does it compete? Does it win? Does it blow the other cars away? Is it impressive visually in person? Thanks for sharing! Mike S.

Its out of Calif. and I've seen it on track only once so far for Fri Practice so its too early for me to say.
I the sight of a Comp Goose was a shock. From a distance I mistook it for a heavily modded Lancia Stratos.
    I'll try to learn more.

    Interesting looking car!

Does it have an actual Mangusta chassis number?

The car is a real one. noted to be a '71. Pictures show it to still have part of original frame from axle to axle. I have heard it to be the recycled from an accident. I am currently tying to reach former Canadian owner to compare VINs.

Sounds even better at full speed.
Perhaps you can settle an issue raised by the owner of the red Goose. He claimed that the race version had a 289 not a 302 so it could not be original. I seem to remember some (European models) being made with the 289. Were there any Geese (?) delivered with 289s?
