    This Wednesday, September 1 at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater



    The inaugural Baltimore Grand Prix is coming fast - Labor Day weekend 2011 is just about a year away. With cars racing around the Inner Harbor at speeds of more than 180 mph, this 3-day Festival of Speed promises to be the most exhilarating event the streets of Baltimore have ever seen.



    But the Baltimore Grand Prix is about to get even more exciting.

    Please join us for a special live announcement on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Baltimore Inner Harbor Amphitheater on the corner of Pratt and Light Street.

    A presentation by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will begin at 12:00 p.m. You'll not only get all the latest news, you'll have the opportunity to meet several drivers and check out some of the most elite motorsports cars on earth. Come by on your lunch hour and get autographs from drivers like 2-time Indy 500 winner, Al Unser, Jr.

    Date: September 1, 2010

    Location: Inner Harbor Amphitheater

    Time: 12:00 p.m. - Presentation
    11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. driver autographs and race

    cars on display

    Cost: Free

    In the event of rain, the press conference will be held at the covered area in front of the Visitor's Center at 12:00 p.m

    Hmm, since my office is next door (World Trade Center) I guess I'll have to wander over. I guess they'll confirm that Saturday will be the ALMS race? Hope so, as I'm much more interested in that than IRL.

    ALMS race would be awesome! I am right across the street at the corner of Pratt and Light streets.

    I just checked the ALMS website. 9/3/2011 race has a location of TBD!

    The Mayor is announcing that the ALMS race will be on Saturday and the Indy cars on Sunday. They've got an old Lola Indy car on display along with both Patron Ferrari 430 GTs (the Sharp/van Overbeek and Cosmo/Brown cars) and the Dyson Mazda LMP car. Johnny O'Connell and Little Al Unser (not so little any more) are doing autographs.

    Seems like we're both pretty well situated. Maybe I can watch from the Observation Deck on top of the WTC . . .

    That would be a sweet place to watch from.

    Sadly I had jury duty today and couldn't make it out to see the cars.
