I may have to join up and drive down there to see that. I wonder if my old jet is still sitting around there? The first jet assigned to me when I joined the USAF was an F-4G with a tail number 69-7254.

That jet just happened to be the "G" prototype, a truly historic bird for which I still have all the records from when it got its sex change from its former "E" model self.

I called down there years ago only to find that it had already been shot down with an Aim 9 missle as a target. Broke my heart, that one should have been in a museum or on a pole somewhere.

Those were the good ol' days; stationed in the high desert with with plenty of work to do and a girl behind every Joshua Tree...

I always liked the look of the Phantom, and it's clearly been a successful aircraft if it's been in service since 1958 and 800 are still in use around the world. Glad to see that.

I know an ex-Phantom pilot whose plane is there and is one of the drones...they said they would get the serial number off of it or something and give it to him. I tracked it down to Tyndall and he sent a few emails and found that out. He's not in a rush to see it...probably doesn't want to see it in that condition used for that purpose. I don't get why they test Raptors against the F4 for live fire...its an outdated jet and everyone knows the Raptor will win. Hopefully one day an unmanned QF-4 can somehow beat an F22. ;) lol that would be hilarious.
