David Scott (aka Juan Maunel Fantango) is the "el presidente" of the South Carolina FCA. So often we go through life never to acknowledge the time & effort others put in to make our "mini-vacations" with the FCA what they are. In South Carolina we have David & in North Carolina we have Marc McConnell (aka marcmc8867), both give 110% & more to making these events possible.. I know many times you must get frustrated at the challenges of putting together such great events for all of us members in South Carolina, Georgia & North Carolina..

It says volumes about both of you that members & visitors from as far away as Georgia & Tennessee commonly frequent your events and enjoy the fruits of your labor. In the SouthEast Region, its clear because of both of your efforts- the Carolinas are a very good place to be a FCA member! Its the reason we drive hours, looking forward to a great event.

Because of both of you, many of us have come to love the events for what they are.. a get together of friends with a passion for Ferrari. For me personally, the true concern for our enjoyment at each event was what made my wife passionate about Ferraris. True friendship, not just a rehearsed "hope your having a good time" but a genuine concern for each of us.

Passion is not a "learned" trait.. you either have it or you do not. Both David & Marc have it.

Just a warm "thank-you" from Phyllis & I for making events what they truly are.. a gathering of friends with a common theme.. Ferrari.

I am sure many others feel as I do!

    Chris

I totally agree with Chris. Most people don't see all the work that goes into making an event successful. When it is well planned, the result looks easy; when in fact it has taken much time, effort and dedication that is usually motivated by a great passion for people and bringing them together in a common interest.

We are very fortunate in South and North Carolina to have David and Marc. Thank you both for all that you do! I have come to know so many wonderful people through Ferrari gatherings and this would not have happened had it not been for your dedicated efforts.

    Well said and expressed, Chris.

Beautifully said and 100% accurate. Thank you Chris for stepping up to remind us all of the huge efforts brought forth by David and Marc.
A big Thank You to both of them and many others that consistently contribute to the success of Ferrari Club Events. I wish I could make it to more of them.

    Sincerely
    Karl Troy

There is going to be a Hilton Head event Nov 5-7- that event is in your back yard! a few others also coming up soon between NC & SC check the event calendars! I love the mountains so those are always my favorite events.. Blowing Rock is a must attend event for that reason- see the NC calendar for that one..

Well said everyone! I think I know David just as well if not better than most. And I certainly know what he goes through to make these events enjoyable for all. His desire to create top notch events for our chapter is as great as his passion for the marque. Go to any of our events and you will understand why he was chosen to be our chapter president!

Thanks for the kind words on me :)

As for David, his enthusiasm for Ferrari and Ferrari people knows no bounds! He truly exemplifies what the club should be all about. The club would be nothing without people like that--you SC folks are fortunate to have him!

Guys, what are you doing?! I appreciate the thoughts, but it's all about you. There is no place for self appreciation or small mindedness. After all, it's a car club, but a great one at that because of the people who are members and the fact that Ferrari is the absolute pinnacle of greatness. It's all about you and that's the way it should be. For the record, Marc is the man and will one day be our Regional Director, and who knows, maybe one day FCA President. He's a doer, organizer, leader, diplomat, level headed, and very positive overall.

The helmet in the above pic is from our friends collection in Clemson. He has the largest private collection of memorabilia I have ever seen, especially Jimmy Clark. The helmet was worn by Tazio Nuvolari http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tazio_Nuvolari, Enzo's favorite driver. Can you believe that? I was hoping there was some dried sweat that might rub off on me.

    Great events create great friendships!

Proximity is not necessarily the issue. I have my daughter every weekend, and although she does like Ferraris...a weekend worth is a bit much for her. Perhaps as she gets older it will be easier, but at 5 years old the Wonder Pets are more her speed.

    We have nothing in Ga.

    no events, NOTHING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sad to say but I dropped out for this reason

I don't even know who our rep. is ???????????????

We get all of our info & events from Ferrari chat. members. If we do have a rep. in Ga. there are no post to tell anyone about up comming events.

    Hats off to David Scott

    We need him in Ga.

Many from Georgia come to the SC & NC events, when the outings are in the western corners of the state its actual not that far from ATL..
Keep up with the calendars, - Both David & Marc do a great job of having perfect weekend get-aways.. Be great to meet new people & consider yourself more than invited!

I have to agree that Marc and David do a fantastic job and both of these guys really have a passion for Ferrari... It's really been a blessing for me to be involved with the Ferrari Club. Amy and I have really enjoyed all the events and the members are awesome. We're very fortunate to be able to enjoy both the NC events and the SC events!
    Thanks Marc and David!

I first joined the Ferrari club while living in the northeast 1975, after acquiring my GTC. I was a member for nearly twenty years.

When I retired to South Carolina in April of 2008, Dave contacted me, made me feel very welcome and invited me to participate in an event in Darlington.

I was really impressed by his enthusiasm and dedication, the likes of which I rarely saw while I was a member previously.

He convinced me to rejoin and the more I participated, the more I recognized his enthusiasm and leadership.

The club needs people like him and no matter how long he has been in a leadership position, I feel that he should remain, in light of the outstanding job he's doing.

Those of you who have participated in any of his events will know exactly what I mean.

    Bob Z.

    Mark these words:

If David Scott is FORCED to leave the post of president of the FCA South Carolina by a Regional Director that has a DIRECT PERSONAL BIAS against David Scott.. I will no longer remain a FCA member & will close my membership as well as be a very vocal sounding board of what is happening in the SOUTHEAST REGION of the FCA by a director named Charles Claussen.

When you are punished & forced out of leadership for having the most successful South Carolina chapter to date, SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY OUT OF WHACK.
