Hey all, I'm going to be in Chicago this weekend and plan on attending the air show. I can't seem to find any info on what time the Blue Angels are going to be flying I haven't seen them in close to 10 years so I'm pretty excited to see them over the water. Should I just plan on being there all day waiting, or is there somewhere that has a tentative schedule? I know it's going to be stupid packed on the beach. Just wondering if anyone if anyone had suggestions on how to make this as least hectic as possible. Thanks!

Even if you find a schedule it doesn't mean much.

The Angels will be the finale of the show, so expect them anywhere between noon and 4pm. Depending on the weather if all goes well closer towards 4pm.

Beaches are insanely packed. So I suggest an alternate location along the water like eg. Belmont or Montrose harbor. Or even just Lincoln park.

    Have fun.

All kidding aside, bring a radio if you want the play by play and hang out near the harbor. I park at Montrose harbor and then walk South along the golf course to just before Belmont harbor. The crowds are not that bad, the golf course bathrooms are tolerable, and the view is great.

    .

the best way to see the air show is by boat.

i don't know if you can take one of the excursion boats.

we anchor right off diversey harbor and the first fly by is at 11 am.

beaches are a bit crazy.. one year we parked on clark, south of the zoo, walked east to the park. (west side of lake shore drive)

i think the blue angels start at 3:30 maybe 4pm.

Ditto that. If you're up by Belmont you'll have plenty of room to spread out.

The thing about North Ave beach is that this is where they do the frontal crossings etc, that's the most central of the stage so to speak. However at Belmont harbor, they're already fully aligned in formation so it looks almost as good. At around Montrose harbor is the turning point where they build the formation. Often just buzzing by our balcony (in the past I have looked DOWN on some of them).

Anyway, any place between Montrose and Hancock is ideal.

Wow! very cool show! Saturday was a perfect day, sat on the seawall from 11-5, saw everything. I honestly thought the best thing of the day was the F-18 F Demo. This was the first time I'd seen the Blue Angels without being at an airfield, so it was different loosing sight of them in the buildings. Also the first time i'd seen a B-1 fly. What a show...

I was there watching the show from the 14th floor at Harbour Point. My girlfriend owns a condo on the curve.

Lets revisit that comment in a few months...

I loved my vacation in beautiful California: Best weather, beautiful fauna and so much car culture.

Chicago is great, but not year round.
