Can anyone tell me the technical reason why the performance package part cannot be installed on 599s with a last 6 of vin# 156938 and below...I found a 07 with 1K miles and was told you can install the handeling package and mufflers but no PP...My dealer cant even tell me excatly why.:(...Kevin

I believe it was the software for transmission shift that was incompatible with earlier SN's. Not exactly sure why.

Quick question ... I am looking at 599's with the after market HGTE pkg and Scuds.

Why would you not pick one up that is already done? Not knocking the car you are looking at but the 08's are around for 250 - 275 which is where you will be when your done.

    Doug,
I know its crazy but the car in question has the color combo and most options that I love..Its G.Silverstone/Bordeux..full carbon inside,Daytona style seats..no shields which I can live without and I like the cleaner look..The 599s really go up in price when you go 08 and beyond so Iam money-challenged plus at 265-75 I can get a new 458...A 599 with HGTE is up there in price and I dont want a red car..I think my best bet may be to wait until Spring.?????

Kevin- To be honest, you do not really need the performance pack. Nice to have, but all the other handling bits (springs, anti-roll bar), exhaust, wheels (maybe), etc, are what you really want. Unless you do a back to back drive with a car with one F1 ECU vs the other, you will not notice the difference. The rest of the HGTE kit will work fine, and there may even be someone with most of the parts available for a reasonable price.

Ferrari does internal changes to the cars all the time that make later ECUs incompatible with earlier cars. The Motronic ECU on the early cars may not have something the later F1 ECU must have to operate correctly. As an example, Ferrari added a steering position sensor to the 575M and the suspension ECU looked for an input from the sensor through the Motronic ECU. If you took that late suspension ECU and put it in an earlier car, you got a permanent suspension fault lamp because the steering sensor input was not there.

Is this the same dealer who screwed you out of your scud the day before (8/31)?

Kevin just curious, presently are you capable of moving forward on the right deal? If you are great and if not that is fine by me, but it would make things a lot easier to substantiate your positions.

The reason I supported you is we seemed to be in a similar market search for either a 599 HGTE or Scud and could bounce cars off one another. It does not matter too me if you have 500.00 or 500 million. However to receive credibility in light of what took place it would be helpful to know the means behind the man. :)

Doug, I was giving this guy the benefit of the doubt till last night.

After his (misplaced) rant and the revelation on another forum, got to play this on needaferrari:

Well, I was in his corner at least emotionally as I had close to the same thing happen to me when I bought my first Ferrari. (Even though he showed all the signs that Dan C. showed.)

But after last night he proved to me he was full of it.

(Oh and I would still be interested in your case law v. verbal contracts. I checked, we have had four threats of law suits based upon them.)

I will find them after the holiday, after lil squid posted I assume you are a lawyer.

Amazed that someone would put in so much effort, I often forget it is the internet vs a club of men and women with common interests.

I too sympathized with the situation. Beyond the above odd series of Vipers is there something else you can point me to in order for me to "educate" myself?

Well, a big one was he chose to send me a profanity laced PM cussing me out. And I was one of his supporters!!!! So that got me to looking around and it appears odd requests and bazaar behavior- coupled with a total lack of proper syntax and grammar in his diatribes -has gotten him lambasted on a variety of forums.

Thus, despite my earlier sympathy for him, I am now thinking he is some kid- perhaps trading on his daddy'e cars like that Vik guy did.

So he gets this and a place on my sig.

I've deleted the namecalling posts, but Kevin is the only one that can address his credibility issues. Users on this board who are generous with their time and knowledge should not have to put up with users who misuse the goodwill and resources of the community. Questions about whether his search is real or not are fair, if asked appropriately.
