yeah but the dealer will turn it around and sell it to someome and make 65k that would be be the the true price of a Scud, the dealer are there to make money on the the new and the used one how do think they can afford the fansty show room and set up they have,

 

those people that trading there scud and buying 458 and taken a big have more money then brains what can I tell you,

 

Well, there aren't many Yugos out there either but that's not helping their resale!

The reality is that modern Ferraris are simply mass produced machines that depreciate exactly like any other car. They don't defy economic gravity, special edition or not. They are also NOT like the vintage metal, hand-made in tiny batches on race car chassis under the direction of the guy whose name was on the badge. Sure, a Scuderia will likely always command a small premium over 430's among used car buyers but for it to appreciate, you'll have to wait decades.

If you're buying a modern Ferrari in the hopes it'll hold or gain value, IMO, you're not enjoying the car and not being real. Better to buy some real estate.

 

what was a f40 or f50 or even a enzo worth new in there years and what are they worth now !!!!!!! why can,t a Scud be in the same place as them there very little production scud. also.

 

Because it's his business to market cars. I don't know about you but I don't have the time to find the needle of a wealthy, cost-no-object buyer in the haystack of today's market. That's his value proposition.

Look, a Scud v. 458 value argument just doesn't reflect what the car is: A special variant of a mass-produced model, made in fairly large numbers (2000). It's not an Enzo. It is a used car, albeit a special one, but it IS depreciating nonetheless.

 

Your dreaming. F40 / F50 / Enzo were ltd production supercars. The scud was a slightly modified version of a mass production car. It will always sell 20-30% above a regular 430, but its value is constrained by it's mass production sister. Scuds will follow the CS curve... a scud will be under $180K in 2011, and under $150K in 2013.

 

At which point us lesser folk can buy one

 

Nah, in 2013 these 2010 458's will be 150 and I'll take one of them all day long over a scud.
