On Saturday my screen started rolling and I couldn't make out anything on it. This was on my way to the office. When I parked, I turned the car off and got out without setting the emergency brake. This is how I always park my cars, I virtually NEVER set the brake on any car. This is my reserved spot, which is important so you all know that the incline wasn't any different than every other day. Well when I was walking away I heard a noise, looked back and my 599 was rolling back. It had popped out of gear! I was able to get in while it was moving, parked again, and set the E-brake.

I've had this car since new and it was a pretty early car (15552x) When I got back in after work the radio wouldn't work. Turned it off a few blocks away and everything was fine when I restarted. Has anyone heard of the screen or transmission problems? Anything at all would sure help.

    Thanks-
    SBF

Yikes. I have an '08 599 and now and then my radio won't work. I hear some white noise but no sound. After I park and then re-start, the radio will work again. I don't set the e-brake either but if it came out of gear, I would take it in to the dealer and have them connect the SD3 to the car. Let us know what you find out, I am very curious. Good luck.

Mine is an 08 and occasionally, the radio wouldn't work, as described here with only static sound. If I shut off and restart the car again, everything goes back to normal

So NEO- Have you ever had any screen issues? Do you always set the brake? That's not something I really want to have to get in the habit of doing.

I never had the screen problem on my radio. My radio's would always turn on, but every now and then, there would be no sound coming out of the speakers. A quick restart of the car always solved the problem.

For the e-brake, I sometimes use it and sometimes I don't. I always put my car in first and never experienced my gear popping out of gear. My advice is to get your gearbox checked out. As for the screen and the radio, unless you can replicate the problem consistently, then I think you would have a hard time claiming warranty on those problems.

I don't want to get into a situation where I'm trying to get the dealer to see the screen problem. I was really hoping someone here that knows more about 599's than I do might see some correlation between the only time the screen has given problems and the F1 tranny coming out of gear on the same drive. I thought maybe they were related.

I've never had a single problem with this car before Saturday, and it was just the one time out of the house that it did these things. Driven it 2 or 3 times since, and had no trouble of any kind. As far as I'm concerned, this is as reliable a car I've ever owned. Better than my last two 430's, Bentley Flying Spur and SL55's for sure.

Remember to use the handbrake once in a while, or it will set and you risk ruining the brakes. It's important to "use" them occasionally.

I had terrible luck with 599 electronics. My first 599 was an 06 and I went through 3 dashboards. My second was an 07 and I went through 2 dashboards and then gave up. Sometimes it would reset after shutting off but sometimes it wouldn't. Not confidence inspiring - particularly when driving far in to China. I am told by Ferrari that my problems were unique to me.

Sounds like the radio issue is a very common problem. Since restarting the car seems to solve it, has anyone taken their car to a dealer to solve the problem? If so, would love to know the fix.....thanks

I have also experienced radio problems as I have the optional Bose and ipod hook up, sometimes the ipod won't come on, a quick turn off and on the engine and waiting for the ipod music to come on before hitting ok on the radio works.
I have also had transmission issues as I drive through the Hong Kong in Auto mode mostly, it sometimes just goes into F 1 mode and the engine races up.
I am having these checked when I bring it in for the HGTE upgrade since the software on the transmission is changed bit.

Why do you post when nearly everything you say is negative? You aren't adding anything to the thread by posting garbage like that.

That is why Ignore List is your friend. I was looking at this Posters comments and most are very negative, I don't why they would continue to purchase Ferrari's, if they are such horrible cars. Even his comments about tires come off the same. Very rude Poster/Troll.

woohoo my first post and guess what I can give you guys some advise already :)

i noticed what some called "the white noise" when turning on the stereo. Though my screen worked and i could turn the volume up but it would only increase that 'white noise sound' rather than the music. Spoke to the dealer and said that I am starting the engine too soon. Said I should turn the key, give it a couple of seconds (i wait til it gets quiet - maybe 10 seconds worth? yeah its a while). Then Start engine, then the stereo on. Followed the steps and it ALWAYS worked! Never did I have to restart the car and the problem just disappeared! yippee!

I remember a while back someone posting that their screen was rolling, it was either a 599 or a 612. If you do some digging through this section I'm sure you'll find it. Good luck my friend
