Oldtimer Grand Prix at Nurburgring

We published our 585-image gallery from this year's Avd Oldtimer Grand Prix. For those unfamiliar with the Oldtimer GP, it has been held at the Nurburgring for the past 38 years, and it's always one of the largest vintage events each year.

This year was no different and the field of entrants was exceptional.

Exceptional...? Are we talking about the same event??
Wanted to go there, but after checking the entry lists online I stayed at home. I know, off-topic for this board, but where had been all the pre-war cars for which the OGP was famous in former years? No Bugatti, no Bentley, no supercharged Mercedes, a single Monza and a P3. And if not the Rettenbergers would have brought their Maseratis to the ring it would have been hopeless. The "Historic GP" heat contained cars from 1925 to 1960, which shows how disappointing the entries had been. Where had been the Edwardians and the "Super Sports"? And also the post-war sports cars had only a few highlights.

Must agree with Müller though that hadn't the 1950-60s Maseratis been there, the field of cars would have seemed relatively "ordinary"...

With Monaco Historique, Le Mans Classic and another Goodwood Revival just around the corner, it's no wonder some of the Oldtimer "grids" lacked fizz.
