Just wondering if any of you have dealt with and what your thougths were.

Super lists each wheel at 695 pounds and T-Rutlands at $1,695.

A little info on T-Rutlands...I spoke with a man at T-Rutlands today about the wheels and asked if it was possible that he could move a bit with his price and added that I would be willing then to place an order...he replied "Yes, I can raise the price if you like". Not exactly the wise-ass answer I was hoping for!
Remaining polite, I told him that I would much prefer to spend my money here in the USA, but that the wheels were available much cheaper from Superperformance in England...to which he replied, "Good, buy them from them then". I thanked him for his time and told him that I would take his advice!

Before I order the wheels from Superperformance I am wondering if there is another source for these wheels here in the USA....any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Thanks

    Frank

PS Great going T-Rutlands!! I have ordered from you in the past but won't ever again! Congrat's you lost a customer.

There's only one source, TRutlands is selling the same wheel as Superperformance.......the trouble is shipping AND don't forget Customs charges.

Go with BBS, I have Etoile....there's some options or find real OEM QV wheels. See if FerrParts is scrapping one....

There should be no VAT if shipping to the US.

Might think about aftermarket wheels in 17" size too. Much better tire selection available still.

hey there I had the same conversation with T Rutlands and ordered my rims from super performance about a month ago and they are great and I saved a ton of money!! The shipping was around $175.00 not bad considering rutlands wanted $100.00. They shipped them out and they arrived about 6 days later. no customs charges
ps the center caps that come with the wheels looked cheap so I did buy a set of those from T Rutands also from superperformance I ordered all now lugs and the special socket that wont scratch the lugs and also 1 wheel hanger wich was a great help.
not a fan of T Rutlands
    great fan of superperformance!!!

No BBS wheels, a common selection back when the 308 was new...it has that 'basketweave' center section in a 3 piece spun aluminum rim......

I'll try to get a pic......I have some (4 of them)

US Tariff code 8708.70.45 for non-tractor vehicle wheels duty is a whopping 2.5%, like cars and car parts. Import them as wheels for a farm vehicle for the big saving.

Source: http://hts.usitc.gov/ select Section XVII Chapter 87

Was happy to get 16" 308 wheels on eBay for $1200 in 2001 so $1700 from a retailer today sounds about right. A US retailer is easier to deal with if there is a defect or other problem. What is the paint condition of each? Paint of magnesium wheels can be minimum $300.

Glad I'm not the only one not happy with T-Rutlands! If he just nicely told me, "Sorry, but that's the best I can do" I would have probably just ordered them right then and there.

I am going to order from SP for sure now.

Question...can I use the center-caps and lug-nuts that are on my metric wheels now?

I am 99% sure you can use your old stuff in my case it looked really old and would have stuck out like a sore thumb with the new rims and tires!!!

    Frank,

I ordered my 16 inch wheels from Superformance also. Your center caps will fit. Check with Colin Sowter [email protected] regarding your application.

Ok, I will be ordering the wheels from SP.

Now...which tires!! No tracking, but spirited driving on twisty roads. No snow or even rain, since it's for pleasure only on nice days.

I'm leaning towards Goodyear Eagle F1's or Dunlop Direzza's.

    What do you all think??

Superperformance 16 inch wheels, Goodyear Eagle F1's, couldn't be happier. Made a tremendous difference in performance and driveability!

    You're welcome, Frank.

Colin will be sure you get a matching set of wheels. When I ordered mine, Superformance had three of the four wheels I needed. So I had to wait about a week until he secured a new shipment of the wheels from the factory (KN Alloys, also in the UK) to insure all the wheels matched in color.

As far as tires go, I mounted Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s in stock sizes (Front: 205/55-16 and Rear: 225/50-16) three years ago when I bought my wheels. I'm pretty happy with those tires but I've heard that the GS-D3s are no longer being made.

If you don't mind the radical tread, I would suggest BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2s in the sizes I mentioned. I mounted the g-Forces on a spare set of stock wheels for my 550 for track use. I prefer them over the Michelin PS2s I have for street use. I'll be ordering them for my Porsche 944 turbo in the next week. They're fine tires and are Z-rated. You'll be happy with them for the kind of driving you intend to do. Michelin has been shifting their racing division to BF Goodrich in the last few years.

    Hi there.

In Europe there's a new brand manufacturing 16" wheels replica for our 308. Is a German company named Maxilite AG, no affiliation of course. Here you will find the link on eBay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280550348261&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I spoke with them and they told me that they cast these wheels, son aren't the SP ones. The price is a bit expensive, US $1.670. If someone can put here some feedback about this product it would be fine. Mark, are you there?

    Cheers

GT Car Parts also sells the wheels in the US. They may be a better deal.

    Antonio,

I'll see if I can check them out and get back to this thread or start another.

    All,

Your OLD caps and lug bolts with work with "your" Superformance wheels.

ALSO, get them to send the centering rings for the fronts as well. Sometimes they ship them without asking and sometimes they don't ....

    ... SO A S K for them ! ! ! !

I think it's something in the water... They lost me as a customer a while back... for the same kind of reason. Not the only one from down that way that's been an asshat to deal with.

I priced a complete set of 4 out, both ways, about 18 months ago. The total difference "soup to nuts" amounted to less than $25 ---- meaning that T Rutlands was slightly more. For an extra $25, I would recommend buying from them ---- what if you have a problem and need to return / exchange ??? What do you think it will cost you to ship back to the UK???? ....not to mention the extra paperwork hassles, as there are no customs duties to be paid, but there is a bu**-load of customs paperwork to be processed.

Plus, T Rutlands has and will always stand behind anything they sell with great customer service and support ----- Superformance has historically been hit-and-miss in that regard.

I'm curious how you got to the difference of only $25. It seems that most folks who have bought from Superformance state that their total cost including shipping and customs is around $1,300 to $1,400. The wheels from T.Rutlands with shipping would be around $1,800.

I had a very difficult time with T Rutlands re: a problem with a set of 16" wheels I ordered from them. Great customer service and support has not been my experience. Meanwhile, Superperformance has been, for me at least, wonderful.
