This is the moment when a stunt glider slammed into a runway in front of 15,000 horrified fans at Shoreham, West Sussex.
Amazingly pilot Mike Newman, 35, crawled out of the wreckage of the high performance Swift S-1 aircraft after the cockpit broke up on impact.
The former racing driver suffered three broken vertebrae in the accident, but doctors expect him to make a full recovery.

I think Bobby left out a step when he told me how to dive bomb.

I don't have a funny caption, but I do think it shows how much difference the lack of energy inherent in sailplanes makes in an accident.

Indeed. Had he been powered, those 3 vertebra would be the only things NOT broken.

Your caption brings back memories of when I inadvertently snap rolled a BT-13 and all of a sudden I saw ground where the sky should have been. Yeah, WEIRD. Luckily I was higher than the glider pilot.

Caption #1: Okay, that landing was a little firm. Well, at least the stall horn was blaring nice and loud during my flare. And, look, even better, I'm on the center line!

Caption #2: Be careful opening the overhead bins. Some settling of the baggage may have occurred during the flight.

And it also looks like the left wing absorbed a fair amount of the hit.
