CS Market

I'm the lucky Fchatter who was wise enough to contact Andrew last spring about helping me find a CS. And boy I'm glad I did. He helped me find a beautiful example. I used to have a 430, but I must say, I prefer the CS for its immediacy and unique character. Andrew has been just terrific, answering last minute questions, running interference, and even personally looking over the car and taking it to/from the PPI at Ferrari of Seattle. Everything came together very quickly and I'm now on my way down the coast from Seattle back home to the Bay Area. I'm sure some of you know this drive--spectacular. The car of course is in its element, lively and alert--always anxious to go faster, turn harder, brake later. Will post some pics when I'm back home! peter

Its not the Vin he has that should worry you. He's got everyone's. It's the GPS monitering system installed so he knows what you've been doing with them........Now that Big Brother stuff is what we should be worried about

 

Before h2oskier bought his CS, I was even able to tell him how many times his passenger door was opened. And people think the SD2 report is detailed... nothing compared to my system. LOL!! I have the real info, not just the publicly available stuff like Amolak has on his ************* website.

 

Andrew, can you share any notes about this car?

Guys, how hard is it to put a stereo system in a Stradale if it didn't have one in the first place?

 

If you want the factory one retrofitted by a Ferrari dealer it's hard to the tune of over $10K.

 

That's absurd! $10k for that "after thought" POS sounding hi-fi system they call a stereo?

 

Mine didn't have one when I purchased it. I had a very nice Alpine system installed with no cutting or drilling, for $6500. I insisted that I be able to remove it and there be no evidence it was ever in the car.

 

Agreed, you can put in a much better system for a lot less and no drilling/cutting necessary. Here's a buddy's system in his former CS. Sounds great and looks way better than OEM.

Thanks for all of the messages about my new CS guys. We're now in Coos Bay, Oregon, about halfway down the coast from Seattle, driving the car home to the Bay Area. Coming out of the Tillamook Forest this morning, I noticed a sheriff coming the other direction. As I wasn't doing anything (too) wrong at the time, I wasn't really worried. But glancing in the rearview, I noticed the cop doing a quick u turn. Uh oh. Sure enough, he came up right behind me and BANG went the color bar.

I handed over all my paperwork, which thankfully included bill of sale, proof of insurance, and the seller's registration. After a few minutes, he came back and said he'd stopped me for no front plate! When I explained I had just bought the car and would register it as soon as I got back home, he let me off a "warning." Well, I couldn't let that one go, so I asked how I could possibly have any plates at all, considering I'd only bought the car two days ago. The cop, who was a nice kid of about 12, allowed as I had a good point and waved me off with "by the way, nice car"

Let's hope the next two days are less eventful!

Cops should carry credit card scanners like the kids at Apple stores, that way, as a population, we can exercise our right not to self-incriminate during each stop and they can just be on their way.

 

You are on my dream drive...I want to go up the Cal coast, thru Oregon by Tillamook (wonderful factory there for cheese, ice cream BTW) and on to Mt St Helen's volcano in Washington...in a CS! I just havent dont it yet...the car and the drive.

See, good thing we had arranged for ALL the paperwork. I got nailed coming out of a tiny town in Oregon (we were at the new racetrack) where Sheriff was going in opposite direction and flipped a u-turn. He probably wouldn't of noticed me except for that darn Italia stripe.

We just did the St. Helens drive with 45+ exotics. Back roads are insane!

Agreed. That's what happened last time I was pulled over in Oregon. Sheriff said, "if I had a car like that, I'd be speeding too". LOL!

 

Just joined the forum today and have been seriously thinking of a CS for awhile now.

Anyone know this car:

I love the colour combo, but know nothing of its history yet as I'm waiting to hear back from the dealership.

As an aside: if a person buys a CS in excellent condition that has a good report per SD2 and has had the three year belt change done recently, are there major annual costs involved in owning the car? And btw, if I can get one, I'll be driving it about 3-5K miles a year, and unless told not to otherwise, would probably even take it to the occasional 'track day'.

Any help with the above car and thoughts in generally about the CS owning experience would be very welcome.

I believe the original owner tired to sell it without success. It was listed in FerrariAds.com here for 160k earlier this year. Later on ebay starting at 136k without success. Later still went to a used car dealer and then to the official Ferrari dealer offered for 149k now? Was a one owner car that has had about 400 miles added as it floated around various places for sale.
I like the color but some fault it for not being one of the red or black Stradale models and of course there is the issue of no factory stripe on this particular car.
You could do worse as a number of Stradale models have led a hard life with multiple owners. Just keep in mind that you are not buying resale red...

That car was being offered for about a year from Autosport designs. I had made a play for the car, but it just didn't come together. It seemed like a good car.

You can drive the CS every day if you like, and as far as the track goes.... that is where it is made to be!

 

The Canna di Fucile Stradale has reappeared on ebay (130433110277) starting this time at 119k. The market doesn't seem impressed by a one of one color combination choice; this Stradale having stalled below 124k the last go around. This number is a long way from what the seller thinks this Stradale is still worth today.
Car should have sold before if it was priced right...

Ownership costs will be every three years major service - approx - $2500-$4000.
Brake pads if tracked $1,200 - depends how often upon hopw hard of use. If tracked a couple times and not abused I would say every 8,000 miles. Rotors, well you do not want to knwo - make sure you get the rotors checked before purchase. A buddy had to replace his $16,000
Tires -$2,000-$3,000 every 5k miles to 7k miles
Yearly fluid change - $800-$1,200
Hell of a car and worth every penny IMO

 

How exactly are the rotors checked prior to purchase? Visually or is there something the SD2 can tell you?

I thought that CCM brakes would last a very long time. Is this not so for the CS's carbon brakes? If someone tracks the car say 6-8 days a year, would the rotors not take the 'abuse' without an issue?

I ask specifically about the rotors since the other costs aren't bad at all, and are much less than I thought they'd be. The rotors though at $16K, (for the fronts only?) would be alot to swallow. Are the steel rotors of the regular 360 compatible with the calipers of the CS? Is it feasible to switch to iron rotors for track days then back to the CCMs? (I know this would increase unsprung weight and 'hurt' the handling somewhat though).
