Would involve stripping some clear coat, applying stripe, reapplying clear coat. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this and outcome.

    Scott......

IMHO it is cheaper, smarter, and easier, to just do it with film.

Having owned plenty 'o pricey cars, I would never, ever, contemplate doing this in the manner you are describing. It can be done, but why ?

Because it would be more like OEM with no edge?

That's how the CS on the one I'm closing in on is... no edge...under the clear coat...

See pics in "The Search Is Over..." thread, this section.

It can be done but to do it properly it is an $8-9K job accroding to Premier in Southern Cal. which has done one.

I have personally seen that car and the stripe looks great. Premier is truly the best

    Scott........

Consider yourself lucky it has no clear coated factory stripe to begin with.

Personally I think that option was "high school".......right up there with bare carbon fiber hoods (as on a Subara WRX or the new 997 GT2 RS) etc.

While you may like it, as many others do, I imagine the percentage of people who do not care for it are about as equal. But, even if the actual stat was that 90% of people ordered it.....read on.......

From 5 feet away no one is going to care or notice when they look at your car.

But it's your car and wallet.......so proceed accordingly. Having bought and sold high end cars for two decades as a dealer, I wouldn't touch a car that had been totally re-cleared on top for this purpose, unless it came at a significant discount for it is no longer original paint and on a $200K Ferrari you know what the buyers are like. So the $8-9K repaint quoted actually may cost you another $20K in diminished value. A tape stripe = $500 - $750 ??

I wouldnt clear coat it either. :):)

I would just get the sticker put on, then remove it when I went to sell the car. :):)
