Your numbers are obviously correct for a 20% loss. Is that the accepted guess? I thought it was closer to 15% or am I mistaken.

It is speced at 570 brake HP and shold be about 18%-20% down at the rear wheels. So anything in the 460-480 range is just fine from a RWHP perspective.

Can you provide underside pictures with the underbody aerodynamic pannels in place?

Saw this car last night. Fabspeed was gracious enough to host our local PCA monthly meeting. This car looks amazing! Even cooler when you get underneath it. Can't wait to see what the finished product looks like.

Oh, and if you guys ever get the opportunity to visit the shop, DO IT! The guys there are top notch and know their stuff. Could listen to them talk all day about how they make this or that and what kind of gains they get. This is as legit a shop as you'll find.

Is that the normal drivetrain loss of a RWD platform? I thought it was a lot better than that. I thought AWD platforms were closer to 20%

The gearbox, differential and other ancillary components such as drive shaft, axles, alternator, water pump, power steering pump, etc contribute to the loss. From what I've seen in 4WD forums, their drivetrain loss could be as high as 25%.

I thought the flywheel shp included alternator, water pump and powersteering pump under modern and cuurent rules. They didn't in the old 50's-60's SAE standard.

Does anyone have any DATA showing the ratio of flywheel to rearwheel shp for a non 4 wheel drive car?? Otherwise we are all guessing.

Let me know what you guys think of these exhaust tips that we are thinking of building for the car. The surround is going to be Carbon Fiber and we are using two 4.5" tips.

Excellent video! The stock exhaust already sounds menacing. You've got your work cut out for you.

Where is the 3rd pipe going to be routed? Split or just out of one side?

I never understood the 3 exhaust tips. IMHO, I think the car looks better with two, as evidence in the Fabspeed dual tips.

if you look closely at the exhaust tips on an OEM 458, the real exhausts inside the tips are about half the diameter of the actual tips, Honda Civic tuning job...

It's the same thing for the Scuderia and most cars with a nice looking tip.

There will be no 3rd pipe with the Fabspeed exhaust....We are going to try and retroft this for people with the stock exhaust and make a new center piece between the mufflers which will dump the middle exhaust pipe into the each side of the main exhaust.

depends on the car and transmission, the Nissan GT-R is AWD/DCT transmission and it puts down 420 AWHP while being rated at 485HP..... around a 13% loss....

My Gallardo was rated at 500hp, I put down 410 awhp, 348 tq...the GT-R did much better!

You should stick with 3 exhausts. It's one of the (many) distinctive things about the 458.

I think they are going for that Old Skool F40 look. I personally do not like the 3 tip design hence the reason why I am planning on going to a dual tip which I think suits the lines of the car better : )

Ferrari really choked up the center pipe on the 458 to reduce the sound when the valves are closed. I attached a couple pics of the center pipe for you guys.
