Not sure how I ended up getting this thing in the mail today but received a certificate and lapel pin from Lockheed for 1000 hours in the C-130. It's a little out of date because I have more than 2000 hours but I still thought it was kinda neat.

Anybody else have something like this? I'm guessing Lockheed must do this for other aircraft... anybody know if the other manufactures do anything similar?

That's cool - even if a little late.

What "privileges are occasioned by same"?

I have no idea...... it's pretty loud inside. Maybe a discount rate on hearing aids? All the old timers seem to be deaf.

I have one like that for 1000 and 2000 hours in the F-111, but it would take me a long time to find them. The 500, 1000, and 2000 hour patches are a lot easier to find.

I still have a box of Classic Ear Plugs sitting right above my monitor. Old habits are hard to break.

No kidding...... Even when I'm flying commercial I get a quick urge to turn the radar stabilization off just before touchdown.

I have the 1500 hour patch someplace but never have worn it. Highest one I have ever seen was a 10,000 hour on a C-5 guy.

Bell and Sikorsky have similar programs for aircrew who fly their aircraft. They are technically safety certificates, so your hours have to be 'accident-free'. Bell and Sikorsky also have rescue certificates, since their products are often used for SAR and MEDEVAC. Aircrew can apply for a certificate (and cool tie tack) for each rescue, but typically they just apply for a certificate commemorating their first 'save'. You can only wear so many tie tacks....

That's true they are for accident free hours...... Gotta wonder though what their criteria for accidents might be. A couple of my buddies have involved in Class A accidents in the last few years though both have been entirely the result of maintenance issues.
