I can't see that ever happening.

Briatore wouldn't fit in the Ferrari-FIAT structure.

    He is also getting older.

I may have to eat my words one day ...

No freaking way. Can you imagine Biatore and LDM in a meeting together going over team strategy, team problems, driver issues, contracts, etc? Forget about it.

    A marriage made in HELL.

Not really. Two peas in a pod. Both egotistical assh**es. don't forget, Flava Flav is Alonso's manager.

    I absolutely despise that sleazeball.
If that happened it would be enough motive for me to switch to McLaren (easy, same dealer...).

The name Ceasare Fiorio keeps coming to mind in this
scenario. And, remembering what a debacle Scuderia Ferrari
became under his reign, Briatore is cut from the same
    cloth as Fiorio.

Just as with Fiorio, Briatore would keep things interesting
but that dosent necessarilly translate to victories and
    championships.

The fact that Briatore is Alonso's manager provides
enough conflict of interest to scotch the deal. What driver
in his right mind would want to be Alonso's team mate
    in that situation?

Perhaps having Briatore around is LDM's way of putting
a little fire under Domenicali. The 1-3 result at Monza
certainly didn't hurt matters for him.

    That'd be great news:

    1) Domenicali is not good at the job, way too many mistakes and they continue
    2) Flav was fantastic at his job (4 WDCs)

Only thing is that Flav has to take it down a notch so he won't do another Singaporegate.

While many despise the man (why? because he got caught in Singapore?) he is a true genius: Built up the Benetton empire in the States, then started the Benetton team, had the gutts and instinct to buy Schumacher from Jordan and build a two time WDC on that (cheating all the way, but that's the name of the game). Then he went to Renault, which couldn't ever figure out a WDC back in the eighties nor the naughts.
Then he had again the foresight to hire the next Schumacher and put Alonso in his Renault. And then he made Alonso a two time WDC against the all so might Ferrari/Schumacher combination.
And quite frankly: The Singapore trick to get a win out of a POS car in a year when the Renault board was about to pull the plug was brilliant and worked. If it hadn't been for the weasel/snitch Piquet.

Is he a despicable egomaniac? Absolutely. That's why he is a successful F1 team manager. And that's why Domenicali is not.

Its F1 And its Ferrari. The fact that an option makes no sense has no effect on the chances of it occurring.
Better a knave than a fool I always say;)

    Nice analysis.

Only problem is that Flava Flav ( thanks RP ) has cool blue specs. Ferrari would have to change livery to blue so he would be color co-ordinated.
Its the details in the end. :(

There's more chance of Gilles Villenueve winning the 2011 F1 WDC than this ever happening!.

You are absolutely right there, but I cannot still imagine how he could be chosen to lead the Scuderia.
The man would be dangerous to too many people at Ferrari and would bruise too many egos. The Italians know that!

Briatore was best when he was in charge. At the Scuderia, he would come under LdM's authority, and the FIAT management.

    Valid points.

I think whether this will happen or not depends solely on whether LdM likes Flav or not.

Flav knows how to make the big ego boys happy. See his experience with Benetton.
If at the end of the season Ferrari thinks it that Flav is the last component needed to bring a championship all will be forgiven and forgotten.
Having said that if he comes on board the odds are that it will end in tears.

    You're forgetting one little detail:

In his recent nationalistic fervor, LdM only wants to hire Italians.

Flav is Italian. Through and through.

No disrespect, but i think Andreas will probably do a better job than Domenicali.

Uh, oh, what a vote of confidence.

    Mille grazie. :)

I don't think I'd be any better, people with bigger brains and much more experience than me have failed (Prost, Stewart, Rahal, Thyssen to name a few).

But the blunders that Domenicali has done (like not sending cars out in Q3, or halp hazard attempts at hiding team orders) are appauling. Those are rookie mistakes (and he is no rookie anymore), which a Briatore wouldn't do.

If Alonso doesn't win this title (and I believe he won't) then the biggest blame should fall on Domenicali and I hope he'll be replaced for 2011.

Ah!, well in that case it'll be Lorenzo Bandini winning the 2010 WDC then!. ;)
