Doh!!!! It looks like a baffle broke or broke loose inside the can of my 2007 X-OST exhaust. Bummer. You can hear it rattle and with a scope camera can see that it has broken loose. Also, the passenger side holding brackets are cracking. Too bad, I really like the exhaust and at nearly $3k hoped that it would last longer than 3 years... Am reaching out to the distributor in FL and see what they say. My mechanic says that he can open up the can, fix what's broken inside and reweld it, worst case scenario. First muffler I've had that's failed within 3 years... Kai
Wow, that sux man. Obviously they only have a 12 month warranty or something? Ive had mine 4 yrs now, but I dont think I have done as many miles as you have. Hope she is an easy fix.
I recently had my oem factory 355 muffler diagnosed with a baffle loose, causing an intermittent rattle. Started at around 45k miles two years ago. Finally diagnosed and replaced this summer at 53k miles. Ferrari of Seattle sold me a very low mileage (claimed 1k miles) for $600. Stuff happens, I would hope that X-Ost would at least pay for a repair, or better yet, just replace it.
I've probably put 8k miles on the car. Contacted them via email yesterday but haven't heard yet... Kai
Aha, talked to the receptionist, guy named Lou is supposed to call me back. I'll keep everyone posted. Speaking of posting, I will show some pics of the cracked welds when I get home. Kai
Ok, here is a cell phone pic. The red cirlce shows the crack in the weld. This is the passenger side bracket mounting on the can. I only had my iPhone so it's not the worlds best picture... Kai Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hmmmm, looks like a good weld in that crap pic too. Dont know what happened there mate. Hope you get it sorted.
It's hard to make out in the pic, but the slight black line above the weld is the metal separating from the weld. It's cracked. Kai
UPDATE: I have been working diligently with the NA Distributor and he in turn has been attempting to convice Italy to work with me... Well, it seems that Italy is offering me a 60% discount to buy a new system Not quite what I was hoping for, I guess. So my next step is to engage in a conversation with the folks in Italy directly to express my disappointment in the failure of their exhaust system in 3 years. Wish me luck Kai
That is a shame to hear. With Tubi Style taking a similar tactic, there was an opportunity for X-Ost to make a big impression here. Seems silly for either company not to stand behind the products, considering how expensive they are, and how little the cars are driven.
Let me know if you want to sell the damaged one. I wouldn't mind dicing it up and seeing what I can do with it.
Big disappointment, dont see why they wouldnt stand behind it and either fix or replace it at no cost.
Definitely should more than 3 years and 8k miles out of it. Hopefully they stand behind their product and replace it for you.
Nope. Offered me a 60% discount towards a new one; so still $1,500 for a new one. Well, I guess I'll start spreading the news of the wonderful quality of the X-Ost that I experienced and will have my own mechanic open it up and fix what's broken. Unless I can seel the x-ost "used" for $1,200, and then I'll replace it with a Nouvalari Kai
That's exactly what I told them would happen. This is a small and vocal community and info travels fast. Why they are not willing to stand behind their product in this exclusive market is beyond me. Kai
