    How easy would it be to retro fit the AC on a RS? Can the dealer do it?

    Yes a dealer can. They can do anything.....would you want to pay for it ? I mean you are talking about wiring harnesses, an AC compressor, receiver dryer, ducting, dash control unit, switches and sensors, ripping everything apart, etc, etc.....no, you would not want to pay for it.

    Buy a car with it installed from new.

    ah. well, at any rate I agree with KDS, retrofit is probably not worth the hassle/expense.

    The search expired, so I'm not sure which car you're looking at, but...

    One thing to consider on the RS' is a higher-than-average number have some body work due to the frequency that they see track use. I'm amazed at how many RS' I hear about that have some sort of 'history'. Be sure to deal with a trust-worthy seller, as track damage is rarely covered by insurance, therefore paid for out of pocket and therefore doesn't show up on Carfax etc.

    To piggyback on Amenasce's thread - Does anyone DD an RS? Is it possible year-round in a climate like Chicago (or Calgary ;) )? I know there would be clearance issues, I know I'd need snow tires and I know the rear window is plastic... any other obstacles? Would someone (I) be nuts?

    I have really no valid clue what it would cost........probably $10K in parts alone based on what I know the AC stuff costs for earlier Porsches, plus hours and hours of labor, and a month or two of down time........it seems like a can of worms IMHO, but I could be mistaken.

    Ask and report back.
