308 QV rear emblem ?? chrome or black from factory ?

I was told today buy a Ferrari expert that on the 308 QV's they had black logos with with paint inside but have seen many chrome with with inside. I believe mt Ferrari expert.What came from the factory on these cars? Thank you

 

mine is chrome with paint inside. there was a thread on refinishing them a while back. it had lots of info.

 

My original-paint QV is also chrome with black paint in the recessed areas between the letters, and white paint in the "lines" of the letters.

Pretty sure that the Factory Lit for the QV shows the same thing...

Your 1985 rear emblems ("308" and "quattrovalvole") are both painted black with one white pinstripe in the middle of each letter/number.


The 308 GTB and 308 GTSi have black numbers with white pinstripes and chrome letters with black pinstripes.
The 308 GTS and 328 GTB have black numbers with white pinstripes and chrome letters with no pinstripes.
The 328 GTS and GTS turbo have both black letters and numbers with white pinstripes in all.
The 208 GTB has black letters with white pinstripes and white letters with black pinstripes.
The 208 turbo has white numbers with black pinstripes and chrome letters.

Some emblems have lost the original black paint over the chrome, and therefore seem original to be chrome.

A way to refinish your emblems is to remove them, spray them black. Then, take a hypo needle filled with white paint and fill the small groove.

 

Seen several discussions on this in the recent few weeks. I went and checked mine a few weeks ago and I thought my 308 was black and my Quattrovalvole was chrome (both with the white pinstriping). My car is black though (wonder if that has something to do with it).

I will have to remember to check again tonight when I get home.
