Ain't straight shooters grand? As each day goes by all too quickly, beyond a shadow of doubt you'll see that though Aussies have memories like elephants, and in turn, know how to BS each other for fun, there's no actual BS. Speaking of no BS, no matter where you travel, your lovely Lady, Jennie, who remains photogenic as ever ~ and ~ as your better half is indeed responsible for most of the smiles and niceties coming your way.
Now about the city of Brisbane. Honestly, you have a really cool city! The buildings all have style whether modern or old sitting right next to each other. I'm not that into architecture, but I had a hard time putting the camera down with all the beautiful buildings. I have already mentioned it, but the paths by the river are really nice for a walk or run, such beautiful sights. Restaurants and bars all have had great food and service. People have been so nice whether in stores or even on the street getting directions. We had taken the cab to Ferrari Brisbane and basically did a shop & pub crawl all the way back to the hotel. Started with Emporium area, James St., Mall, Chinatown, and then finished up with places along Queen and Eagle Streets. So far only problem is people walking on the wrong side of the sidewalk, I think we'll have everyone on right side by end of the trip because there is only one right side! I also notice prices all the way around not just Ferraris, but everything else is about 30-50% higher than we're use to. Maybe just because we're downtown, but all the guys wear suits! In the states most businesses are casual now. We had supper at Kingsleys Steak & Crabhouse‎, which I highly rate. Great steak stuffed with crab (see pic below). Cool... glad you're enjoying yourselves and the local friendliness! err.. don't forget to look RIGHT when stepping off the sidewalk!
Cool pics man. Glad to hear you are both having fun. Its still not too late to cancel the Mount Isa trip. You will be bored in 5 mins here. Especially coming from having a good time in Brisbane over the last 4 days.
With Jennie working Im getting FChat stuff done now and then will do a run and lunch, but then afternoon was open. I looked into the half day fishing charters seriously, but guess the ocean is really really rough all this week. Oh well, best thing so far is looking like the Casino.
Since they're gunna be eating vegemite 'n sangas the rest of the trip after today's Casino debacle, may as well learn how . . . http://www.majormitchell.com.au/sandwich.html
or use alternate method : "Darl, can ya make me a sanga ?" "oh, and get me another beer out of the Esky while you're at it"
Amy just gave me a heads up it was Ross we were speaking with as Dayne is in Italy right now. Didn't want to incriminate the innocent.
Pics of Amy? QLD'ers have it easy. In Sydney we are the tax kings Errr Atleast you guys are enjoying the 3rd best city in oz
Jennie only had to work this morning so we ran together again before lunch. This time going the other direction around the Botanical Gardens and across river along South Bank Parklands, Performing Arts Centre, and Art Museum. I think Jennie is going to shop while I hit the casino. Tonight having supper along river with someone from the school Jennie is visiting.
You should have come to Mount Isa first Rob! Would have ended this trip on a high doing all that in Brisbane after you leave this place. At least when you go home you will understand why Pap wants to kill himself.
have you ever been out to a place just outside Mt Isa where the Maltese Cross rocks are found ? I lived there for a year before my dad turned up and said he had heard about this dried up riverbed where the rocks had formed into maltese cross shapes ... found it and it was true http://www.mountisa.biz/history/crosses.php
Heya mate, I havent ventured out much in the bush around here. Well, did when I was a kid with Mum and Dad etc.etc. But havent been there for 20 yrs. Doesnt interest me that ****. If you enjoy camping etc..etc, then this is the place to be. A LOT of stuff to see out here, probably why its such a popular tourist destination.
I hate the bush , just went there to see if it was true Mt Isa is so popular that the favourite road is the one to Townsville .... I use to drive to Cloncurry just to see a different sh!thole for a change I use to play for Brothers until I found out that there was a team called Keas, then went and played for them, better to be dishing it out than receiving
