Just found this car at Maserati of Sacramento. Seems a great price for a Rosso car with stripe; (don't know if it's factory though). Mileage at 13,500 BUT major service just done and clutch wear at 41%.

    Any known stories?

Not factory stripe. PM Fchatter vancoops456 (he works at Maserati of Sac) for info. Do a thorough PPI on that one.

Others can chime in on this.... I never had to change mine out or wore them down at all. Tracked her 5-8 times a year. The friend I referred to tracked maybe 20 times plus a year and drove hard and long. Meaning I would do 15 laps or so, bring the car in and let the brakes and tires cool. He would run 30 laps wide open an late braking. I think getting them that hot wore them quicker. I would call your local dealer and ask about them about heat cycles, wear etc. of the CCB rotors. The dealer can also measure the rotors for wear as well.

People have switched out the brakes for the big brembo steel brakes to not take that hit. I never would though. Not trying scare you away just making sure you are informed. Most people will never need new rotors but before you buy check them out.

    Good Luck

I've seen this car. As Stokpro said PPI is a must on this one.

What I'm about to offer is a bit sketchy, but here goes.....

    1. When the Enzo was introduced, Ferrari offered an owner's driving class in Italy utilizing the customers' cars. One feature of the class was that Ferrari would swap-out your wheels, tires and brake rotors with factory items for use during the class. This caused quite a buzz of concern regarding the lifetime and cost of the rotors.

    2. Ferrari North America used to (still do?) offer a California tour event in August which ended in Monterey, CA to coincide with the big Monterey show/auction/race weekend. They required that all entrants have their cars tech inspected by a FNA dealer. One of the check list items was to inspect for CCB rotor cracking. There was a criteria, which if failed, required the rotors to be replaced. I no longer have the document, no can I find it on the web.

In practice, the CCB rotors have very long lifetimes in street usage, but clearly Ferrari had some concern about cracking, not simply wear.

I bought my black CS from them any a year ago. Car was as represented. I had a PPI done independently by Ben Salerno's shop. They can run an SD-2 download including checking for how many time launch control has been used. I'd be suspicious of some hard driving with 40% clutch left at 13K miles.

Thanks for the post. Didn't think to ask about the number of times LC used.

BTW, I'm new to the SD2 data but I thought that if the SD2 showed 41%, that meant actual wear on the clutch calculated at 41%; hence 59% left. Am I incorrect on this?

At the risk of taking this thread into the weeds....Ben Salerno rocks! He took loving care of all of my cars (BMW, Porsche and Ferrari) from 1992-2000. Brilliant and meticulous!

I now return control of this thread to stokpro....

The SD2 printouts I have show wear (% used) so for my CS at 6400 miles had 10.68% wear.

Agreed. A very nice color combo but really unusual for a CS. The maximum value for any Ferrari is when you find a buyer who wants the exact color and features a car has. This car looks to be fairly priced at $125K give or take, but not what most people are looking for.

    Gorgeous car.

    That's not the original clutch.
