Agree with that weather bit. There was once when it was bright at one end of the island only to rain heavily near Bukit Timah and I had to stop with the motorbikes under a flyover to remove the cover and raise the top! But I think you need the tonneau when driving top down at high speed, when going up north.

It is a wonderful experience, top down at high speed. May replicate that this Sunday, since it is only a short run :).

Hi all, I'm not sure if this is the right forum to go to, but I don't have any other alternatives, hope that you guys can help in my queries :)

I'm looking to get either a Maserati Granturismo or an Audi R8. However, I am concerned with their maintainance costs / schedule. Heard that the R8's maintainance cost is quite low? and the GT's is quite high.

    Thanks in advance! Cheers!

Sorry, I called you so late. Lewis was very friendly and gave frank answers to a couple of tough questions.

I'm currently 26, quite new to the forum-business, so do show me the ropes :)

I have been interested in cars since young (dad's influence, but unfortunately my family had no money to afford one). And so, like any other teenager, I was dreaming about the ferraris/lamborghinis all day long, haha (hope that I will not disappoint the rest since I don't own a supercar)

I'm also interested in soccer, basketball and hockey. (If time permits, how about a game with like-minded individuals?)

As I was saying, I was looking around for a secondhand coupe with a budget under 400k (in a semi-uncomfortable zone). I was considering a 2005 gallardo, F430 or a v8 vantage. But after factoring in the depreciation and running costs, I turned my attention to the GT and the R8.

I understand that there should be some R8 or GT owners (or ex-owners) amongst you guys? Mind sharing your service cost/intervals? This would be my first time getting a sports car (driven sedans all the way till now)

KUM SIA, kopi on me at the next meet up

Bro maxHP, what car do you drive? LP670-4? :)

You did not mentioned if you are buying a new or used car. I had a gran tourismo for 20 months and did not have any problems with it. I usually don't worry too much about repair cost unless you land up getting a lemon. I am usually more concern about the depreciation. Both are nice but very different cars.

Hi bro, I'm getting a used ride (see above reply). I'm quite particular about the costs and reliability because I don't have much time to spare going to the workshop all the time. I need a sleek and reliable car. This would probably be lasting me for about 5 years, hence i'm concerned about the overall maintainance costs as well. Thanks!

Both gt n r8 are well built cars. With your budget you should b getting a 2 + yr old car. To avoid major repair bills, I would not keep them beyond 5 yrs. The annual depreciation is almost straight line and you are better off changing to another car after 2 years. cars tend to give problems the older they get.

Yup, I'm actually looking at a 2008 GT and R8. Oic, mind sharing your servicing costs/schedule? I have a lexus and a bmw, and so far the servicing costs has not shocked me, but i'm expecting the r8 and gt to. Haha, sorry im quite kiasu. kum sia!

Normal service cost less than 3k per year. I usually don't keep my car beyond the warranty period and cannot comment on repair cost.

Haha, i wont consider a vios as "sleek", reliable yes. Let me quantify my expectations. Coupe, reasonably quick, reasonably overpriced and beautiful. :) Oh, and reasonably reliable. Currently driving a bmw 7 and a lexus gs450

Possibly good pickup points when it hangs.

3k a year?! Wow. Normal? Wow. This is the first time i'm hearing such figures, coming from a lexus owner. Hopefully the R8 is more.. pleasing to ear. Any R8 owners or ex-owners looming around? :D

I don't have a Lexus I was talking about the gran tourismo which I had. My annual service cost for my Ferrari is not much more. We are talking service n not repair cost and all my cars are in warranty.

Nono, Because my lexus's service bills are in the hundreds. Haha, quite surprised at the costs of the GT. The R8 is lesser I presume? Any idea how much would an extended warranty cost? Which ferrari do you have? 599?
