So I drove my 99 F355 GTS up to Great Lakes Dragaway this afternoon to meet with a customer and do some tuning on his turbo car.

He ended up getting stuck in traffic so I thought I would run my car down the track just for the hell of it.

Spun the tires a good bit but pulled off-

    2.205 60ft

    13.21 1/4 mile ET

    109.1 1/4 mile MPH

It was about 82 deg, 2500 density altitude.

I definitely think there's more in it if I kept making runs and working on the launch, or went back in better air but I doubt I'll ever run it again. Just did it to satisfy my curiosity and I'm pleased with the results :)

James- That is quick and, corrected for sea level, matches almost perfectly the Ferrari claims of 13 secs for the 1/4 mile (more likely 400 meters or 437 yards vs 440 yards).

2.2 short time isn't good----You can def. get that down into the 1.9 range by messing with launch rpm's....

    Nice numbers.

Considering that Drag Times had a 2010 Camero SS put down
    1/4 Mile ET: 13.620
    1/4 Mile MPH: 107.410

So that is a VERY respectable run you made, and good enough to beat a SS. ;)

Motor Trend was able to get a SS to click off a 12.9 @ 110. But you could have done the same thing by shaving off half a second on your 60ft time, and maybe even a hair quicker reaction time. None the less VERY respectable time from a lil' ol' 3.5 liter motor.

Nice run, I would be darn happy to hit those times. I haven't been up to GLD in about a decade, I imagine they re-paved it by now. What were the other times you ran?

    Cool!!

I have often been asked what she will do down the 1/4, now I have some idea of real numbers.

Any pics of her at the track? :)

Reaction time has nothing to do with E.T. :)
The timer doesn't start until your front wheels move out of the staging beam.
You can actually get a faster E.T. by shallow staging and allowing the front wheels to 'get a run' at the beam, but the shallower you stage the slower the R.T. is.....
I'm sure James knows all this, he's an old drag racer too.....

    I didn't mean to sound like a pr!ck, Ernie! :D

I just worked for a guy that raced Pro Stock for so long and I couldn't get it through his head about how reaction times worked....he always thought when he had a faster RT that he should have had a better ET than the other guy and thought the NHRA was cheating him.
Boy, would I have liked to whack him across the head with that ruler!!!! :)

Thanks but unfortunately with the same track and same driver (me) our stock 2010SS shop car was a few tenths quicker. Of course it took me about 10 runs to finally break it in the 12's so I could probably do the same with the F355.

Too bad there aren't some curves at the end of the track. You'd really wipe the SS in the ss's. :) Congrats!

No worries, I got what you were sayin.

    ya big bully. LOL!!!! :D :D :D

I still think that time is way respectable, especially from an engine that only displaces 213+/- cubic inches. That lil feller was gettin after it.
