Good for you, I knew someone would correct my spelling. They have been doing it since I was in High School. tongascrew

This is a comment I made about that race in message 322, at that time I didnt know Mr Ciliberto I met with him last saturday. branko
Long time since you made that question, I just got this picture yesterday, you can see 0749, Pola # 117, 0933 # 2 Marcotulli and 1377 (probably #18) Fayen at Ciudad Ojeda Sept 20 1959. Fayen won the race but was disqualified in a very controversial decision and I believe that it was the only participation in Venezuela. Image Unavailable, Please Login
This particular race ended in very strange circumstances, a draw in the sport race over 2600cc between 0758 and 0726 and a the disqualification of Fayen in the GT class in the other race.
Thanks for the picture - I had seen the Ciudad Ojeda race listed in the car's history, but it's really great seeing the photo as confirmation. Can you say anything further regarding Fayen's disqualification?
Reading one of those old newspaper articles give impression that he was disqualified for his 250GT not being homolocated by FIA. Best wishes, Kare
Hi boothguy, where are you following the cars story? As Kare mentions the car was not considered a GT, wonder why, just a few months before it raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GT class. In my investigation I believe Fayen raced 1377 in Gran Premio della Lotteria di Monza a week after Le Mans, Barchetta lists Fayen with 0933, this car was raced since January 59 til September by Marcotulli and December 59 and January 60 by Tossa, no connection of this car with Fayen after the investigation. Hi kare, what article are you referring to? if it is not from a venezuelan paper I would love to have a copy, is it possible? Saludos branko
It was online and must have been something I found clicking an eventual link on this thread. I'm sure you have it. FWIW, I don't speak Spanish but after reading race reporst in many different languages for the past 20 years, it doesn't require that much to follow. Largely same stuff over and over again with some nuances. Basically 250GT Interim Berlinetta should be just another LWB Berlinetta and meanwhile Le Mans was arranged under FIA rules, it seems that from time to time the Frenchmen also required some rules of their own obeyed - or took some liberties where it wasn't important (or the participant punished by a rule was a Frenchman...) . At this time there may have already been some rules about the coachwork and it is possible that Venezuelans were strict about something the Frenchmen weren't. It is also possible that they missed the fact that the car under that body hadn't changed a bit. Best wishes, Kare
Not certain I understand your question, but believe I saw the Ciudad Ojeda reference in some obscure listing on the web, searching for any crumbs that would delineate the history of 1377GT. Any information appreciated.
Hi boothguy, as I said before I beleive 1377 participated in Gran Premio della Lotteria di Monza with #41 in 1959, is there a way to find a picture of that car to make sure? All the publications I have found so far about venezuelan racing are not accurate in many ways. Saludos branko
Around the Cabriolet Vignale (seen at page 20), in the last number of the italian magazine "Ruoteclassiche" 9/2010 is possible to seen a photo of 0173 E with the first immatriculation plates: Roma 166621. Sorry for the poor quality but the original is too litle and comes from an old movie magazine. The actress is Vivi Gioi. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivi_Gioi No surprise because who sold the car when new was Mr. Santi (Ferrari dealer) together at movie producer Antonio Mambretti Sonzogni Iuva (movie producer). in speaking to my uncle bobby today while at a char show, he mentioned two other ferraris that he owned for a while. with the help of branko and others we identified the 250mm and the testa rossa. the others were a 250 boano alloy and some sort of sports racer with a ferrari 4 cam v-6. i am interested in the v-6 car primarily as when he told me about it he had a gleam in his eye. i am going to ask more about the car in an hour or so. stay tuned...I am certain we can figure out the mystery of this one too! best, pcb
The alloy Boano has a thread in FC . http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=99109&highlight=boano+alloy Wonder what the other car is, ask Bobby to give me something more. branko
This tread is very interesting! I've just read the 22 pages But now, is there still Ferraris in Venezuela? All must be restored, isn't it?
There were 6 Ferraris entered in this race on August 1956 Chimeri, Lollobrigida and Egger that was posted in the Vignale thread. branko The entry list. http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/7749/maracay56ellimonanuncio.jpg Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
