Caught that this morning........"public safety issue"............LMFAO.
Notably, during a time of blowing the budget on repaving perfectly good roads, and such, follow da moneeeeeez!!!! - between the fines, and the revenue lost when the red-light cameras can't get a victim's number to invoice, it will be quite a bit.

And there will be idiots who actually fall for the reasoning.

Big Government once again telling you it's for the good and safety of all...and your absolutely right, the little sheeople will drink the sand the government calls water.

What was the famous line Joe Panteliano used in the Matrix? ...Oh yah, "Ignorance is Bliss". Sometimes I wish I was so stupid.

Well, it's always been there....Now they're just refining the terminology and placement. I'm curious if they're going to change the verbage in the next legislative meeting. I think I only did one stop for no plate visible from the front. Can't recall issuing a ticket or not though.

I honestly wish we didn't have them now. My Rx7 would have looked so much better, as would my new truck.

Unfortunately, there are still those of us who remember when the relationship with LE wasn't adversarial, as has been increasingly the case since city councils realized that "Thar's money in them thar pockets!!!.....and we want more of it, because we can."
The state and local coffers are counting on those who don't remember, or the complacent ones who do.

I miss "To Protect And Serve" meaning exactly that, and not "Revenue Generation", and little else.
I miss the real-life Andys and Barneys. RIP.

City police could care less since the city won't see any other money. I got stopped once by a Trooper for no front license plate. He gave me a warning and I went my on way. I guess it's just the price of having a cool car. If I get a ticket I will pay it, but the front license stays on the wall in the garage. :)

I "ate" one of those tickets about a decade ago. Afterwards I spend 2 hours counting cars on 71 comming west. Fully 1/3rd of all vehicles don't/didn't have a plate, but what is worse is that 70% of all pickup trucks have a plate that is not a license plate!

What's the fine-print for if a vehicle can't accommodate a front license plate (ie. front bumper / valance is void of any mounting points)?
Yea, I believe that front-mounted plates other than state-issued license plates should be targeted & cited rather aggressively.

Another gripe of mine, how can a Harley which sounds obnoxiously & painfully loud not be cited, but a high-performance vehicle w/ a refined & racy exhaust note be targeted on-occasion? These custom/chopper style bikes are noticeably louder (and more painful to hear) than any sportscar w/ test/straight pipes or even catback delete. It just boggles my mind.

Got a ticket for this yesterday. Williamson county sheriff. I went to take care of it this morning and they told me to wait 2 weeks to make sure the paperwork comes in... I put the plate on my car and it will be a $10 dismissal.

Here in Washington State if your car is considered a collector vehicle they only issue you a rear plate. Is there a similar law in Texas?

    cheers!

In Texas, you can register your car as an antique if it is old enough (either 25 or 30 years) with a single period plate.. You only need one plate to register this way. Antique vehicles in Texas do not need a front plate. If you register your car as an antique but choose to take the new antique plate issued by the DPS, I do not know for sure if they only send you one but I have heard they only send you one. You can register a car as an antique in Texas with a regular new plate as well and in that case they will send you two.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe DOT requires the ability to mount a front plate. I also think most countrys in Europe are REALLY big on the front plate thing with their revenue cameras. Essentially, I think all cars have the ability to, but some of the brackets are invasive to the point of drilling holes in the bumpers.

Texas is the only state I've been pulled over for not having a front plate. The stupid wind blew the plate off my car so I showed the cop that I still had the plate and he let me go.

I've seen folks put their front plate in a platic baggie velcro'd to the inside of the front windshield on the passenger side, opposite inspection stickers. Is that a legal/viable alternative?

Not anymore.........When revenue becomes the priority, "Any excuse will do"......and it can create "Probable Cause" if an ossifur wants it to - potential other infractions/$$$$, asserting athoritah, needs to bring the "little officer" up to a full 3" for a big date that night (better than Extenz!!).......

Sounds good to me. Mine is not a daily driver, but I do take it out on "shake down" runs often and weather permitting. I was hoping for better weather in Texas, so was hoping to get it out more often. Hope this will not be problematic.

    Cheers!

No, they want it "mounted"....they are nice about it, but on the dash or under the seat doesn't cut it anymore......

The trouble I have had is that 1977 was the first year of the 'sticker update' so there ARE no 1977 stamped plates, except for Dealer Tags.....
