I would use normal for just driving around. Race makes it shift faster etc..

The ride in my 360 coupe is so much smoother and quieter in normal mode that I usually just leave it that way. Occasionally a spirited jaunt through the scenic twisties will get sport mode, but then back to normal on the way home. The faster shifting and other changes provided by sport mode are no advantage whatsoever except on the track so it's seldom seen in my car. Hope that helps!

I drive a Scud also but always in race - the suspension damper does not work in sport - gives it a much smoother ride

Sorry for the side bar, but how noticeable is the difference in traction control when engaged in Race mode?

Don't you experience less clutch wear when the car is set to 'Race'? Reason being, in normal mode the clutch slips far more.

Quite noticeable in the wet. In race mode, TC intervenes much later.

About your 360, I have heard complaints that the F1 in the 360 shifts to "jerky," but when you are in normal mode how is it? Is it still noticeably "jerky" or does it almost shift like a regular automatic?

Always race mode. Saves on clutch wear. But a bit harder on rear tires ;)

In RACE mode the tech data says the CS (or 430, or 360 in SPORT) double clutches on downshifts, but not in SPORT (or NORMAL for 360s). So what you get is more clutch and throw-out bearing wear in RACE, and less synchronizer wear because of the double clutching.

Why does anybody thing clutch wear is less in RACE? Most wear is on starts, at any rate, and not during normal gear shifts, but there are more clutch and T/O bearing cycles in RACE.

Another reason to change the T/O bearing on every change of an F1 clutch. Brian Crall estimates an F1 T/O bearing gets used as much as 3 times more than one on a three pedal car. A new clutch postion sensor is not a bad idea, either.

Interesting Terry. It was my assumption that since there was less slippage, that clutch wear was less. The dealer commented that as well, but not coming from an actual mechanic, so who knows. Anyway, I got 21k miles out of mine, which I though was pretty good.

Driving without asr is IMO just silly. You can drift the rear end plenty with it on, its more generous than a standard 360. Anymore is just showboating and not any faster. IMO of course, YMMV.

How does that expression go about opinions and rear ends? :D

Its only really showboating if your car control is weak. I find NOT having the nannies going full time keeps my skills sharp.
