My point is that he got through the pack easily by his early pit, and when it really countred, he failed miserably. I take my words back about excuses
GOOO ALONSOOOOO!! Two tremendous weekends in a row. There is no doubt in my mind that Massa could never make this happen, he's quick at times, but will always be a #2 for top tier teams. Alonso has the goods, just needs to have a Top 3 car and he's a major threat. Hamilton in the McLaren often has perhaps the greatest raw speed (always a threat), but is STILL his own worst enemy.
Massa is the ideal #2. Any driver that could threaten Alonso would do the team more harm than good. Bashing Massa is like hitting your sister. No matter how frustrating she is, its just plain wrong.
On a related note, some of the comments from unsubscribed posters during the race were a bit distracting to say the least. There has been some private discussion about having the next race thread in the subscribed section. Thoughts?
I never understood not coughing up a few bucks to support Fchat. Has to be the bargain of the century. I'm luke warm on the idea. Perhaps two sections ?
Massa's miracle finish from last to points happens to involve 13 other selfless contributors who DNF'd, at least one penalty, a new engine, and countless safety car periods. Remember FA won in this same chassis. Color me unimpressed.
I think that if someone can't swing the bucks they should at least let us know who they are. Less sniping when you can be identified.
If he had passed he'd be a genius, like Kubica who did the exact same pass but pulled it off. Both were completely at the mercy of the passed car at almost exactly the same point. I'll take LH's aggressiveness over caution and inability any day. This is the stuff of champions. I believe Webbo knew exactly what he was doing.
Thanks for the invitation to comment Firstly, I have no dog in this fight - I typically time-shift the race, and after I've watched check in here and read the most recent couple of pages [More if it's interesting.] I tend to think that any thread that "explodes" the way this one does probably contains a lot of noise..... If there's anything "significant", someone will start another, saner (mostly!) thread, and the noise level drops. Having said that, it seems that right now the major noise is (unfortunately) coming from subscribed members! [FWIW, and I'll say it out loud - Moreti should be banned, again, again.] However, If a subscribed & respected member's enjoyment is being negatively impacted by non-members, then I'd say "sure, move it into silver and keep 'em out" - They can always start their own and "may the best thread win!"...... Trouble is, the subscribed air-heads As always, my 02c, Cheers, Ian
Have to say I agree with both of Light's last comments in post 409 and post 411. Not sure if I'd agree Knife knew what he was doing , possible I suppose, but the assessment on Massa was spot on. I couldn't believe the amount of accolades Sausage was receiving when it was all tires (obviously). Loved hearing all the undeserved praise during the race though, he's one to watch without question. Rosberg too
I'm loving the silence from down under A shame Steve had to go too though. Back to the race... The top 5 are still quite close together. Button in 5th is still only one race win behind Webber. The equivalent of only 10 points last year. With 4 races to go its anyone's championship. My money is still on Vettel to pull it off.
Massa is a good #2, but Ferrari are going to stop winning WCC's if he doesn't up his game. Red Bull and McLaren have a much stronger lineup at the moment.
Actually, no Nevertheless, I agree with what makes no sense anymore () - too much noise, too much from certain usual suspects, and I have no idea why the penalties aren't handed out much more often...
Even I was disappointed in my man today I'm moving from being impressed with the young lad to disappointed in the master Cheers, Ian PS - How long did Moretti & Steve get?
My question was about comments made in real time during the race. It really enhances my enjoyment posting and reading contemporaneously. I have no issue with people who post legitimate questions no matter how naive. The trolls, who are rarely the regulars, are another story. Too bad about the dear departed. Sometimes we let our passions carry us away.
Understood - That's why I said I had no vote on it as I don't do that. As noted, I haven't been back thru it all, but 100% concur - Trolls are among the lowest forms of life. So, given it's you (and now a few others) "soliciting comments", I'd have no problem moving it to silver if "we" feel it would help exterminate the trolls (?) Did I mention I hate ****in' trolls?! Cheers, Ian
For Moretti - not long enough, as it is unlikely permanent. I have yet to see a thread that he has added any class, enjoyment or valuable insight to....and there have been a lot of threads and a lot of bans. While I don't always agree with Krafty, I at least respect his opinion and his argument. There are others, regrettably suscribed, who throw a bomb and run after being called out. It is infantile and moronic and only presents that poster in a poor light.
