I need your help. I have a destroyed L4/L5 disc. 3 months ago the disc ruptured for the final time. I lost feeling in my legs, hips and feet. I went to a Neurosurgeon in Sydney and because of the time to see him and looking after my disc the pain subsided and he said there was no need to come back and see him. I have just got out of hospital and my doctor has referred me to another Neurosurgeon but the appt is for 6 wks time. Does anybody know any Neurosurgeons in Sydney that I can see ASAP?
I have and its going to take 6 wks to see him. I am just even after any recommendations or anything and I will ask my GP to make the referral out to those recommodations.
Do you already have an orthopedic specialist? Perhaps they can get you in to the neuro quicker than a GP?
if you have destroyed L4/L5.......the sciatica would be killing you, for ease at present take vlotaren rapid 25's, that should calm things down, the spinal specialist will probably want to do an epidural to properly relax the discs and prevent further damage. If all else fails get to an emergency ward of St Vinnies, once they work out your problem they will have a specialist on hand
Owch!!!I could of helped if you were in Melb, Anderw Danks head of neuro Monash Uni. Ask your GP about Prednisalone ( I think thats it ) an anti inflamitory steroid I was on ,post bike crash, but thats another story...
I am currently taking Endone (pain killer), Inza 500 (anti inflammatory) and other not so addictive pain killers. I am seeing Timothy Steele at Vinnies, but that is 6 wks away at the moment. All my other discs are fine, just L4/L5 has no more fluid and its flat and black on the MRI scans, where as my other discs are oval and very clear looking. I am just stuck at the moment, even walking is becoming unbearable.
I get epidural injections about every six months, they are CT guided and help with pain and mobility. This may help until you see Mr. Steele. Best of luck...A
