Any pics of the LP400 Racing in Japan? I love the linkage of classic Lamborghinis to racing, but none of them ever did so with notable success..
I'm guessing they are just for use in the pits to prevent picking up rocks on the hot sticky race tires. Notice the crunched rear in the first photo. Is this the same car in both photos? Paul
just finished the deal today, another LOWBODY will be leaving the country. This one is on its way to Switzerland. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just some photos I found today as I was looking for a pic of Britt Eckland Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Which VIN ? Good to know that another lowbody is here since we lost to most important one to Emilio...

You're saying the physical changes Lamborghini made to the construction of the cars changing from Lowbody to Highbody happened before series 2? I have been led to believe that series 2 cars are identical to late series 1 (big dash gauges) Lowbody cars, except for being equipped with Campys instead of Bravos. At the least, S2 cars are certainly lower bodied than series 3 LP400S's.
I think you're incorrect there. S1 & S2 are low-body. S3 are high-body. Very simple. If you look at 224, it sits, well, low, hence the moniker low-body. Here below is a brief synopsis from the ILR: There are three distinct Countach LP400S Series. Series One - The first 50 cars delivered with Campagnolo "Bravo" wheels in 1978 & 79. The very early 1978 cars had the original LP400 steering wheel. Small Stewart Warner gauges, 45mm carburetors and a lowered suspension (low-body) setting is a trademark feature of this celebrated first series. Halfway through 1979's production, bigger gauges were employed. 50 cars were built and the last one is noted to be 1121100* Series Two - These cars are recognized by their smooth finish dished/concave wheels, and still retain the low-body setting. 105 cars were built and the last one is noted to be 1121310*. Series Three - It is claimed that from chassis number 1121312 onwards, the cockpit space available was raised by 3cm. These cars are recognized by their raised suspension setting. 82 cars were built, and the last one is noted to be 1121468* They have the smaller 42 mm carbs and are noted as the slowest of all Countach variants.
The Japanese really love the Wolf CT`s and SVR Miura`s, plenty of copies in the land of the rising sun.
I disagree with you Joe. I have 1121448 and that would be just very close to the last of the 82 cars built in that run. It has 45 mm carbs on it. In all the years I have worked on and owned Countach cars, and I have owned 10, I have never seen a Countach with 42 mm carbs on it. I have see 5000S cars with 40 mm carbs, but never a 4 ltr car. Also any cockpit extra space, would have been gained by lowering the seat rails. The roof of the car was NEVER raised, no matter what anyone says. The periscope roof indentation was removed from the roof, which gave maybe 2 inches more head room, but the roof itself was never raised.. As far as low body and hi body, my 87 sits just 4 inches from the ground and that is the same ride height as given for the LP400 cars. So I guess I have a low body 1987 Countach. [/QUOTE] Chad, I respect your stance and experience but I have measured both very closely and they are certainly different....no doubt about it. The body was changed. Brian
