458 Pricing Around The World - Shanghai

$742,000 for a brand new 458 Italia??? WHAT??? That's over priced! If that's how they price in Shanghai how much will the 599GTO cost? Gotta be over a million US Dollars!

Its just the way it is because of their Goverment's tax system.

In Australia, we are paying around US $525K for a 458.

 

Yes it will. The base price for 599GTO in China is 5.9 million RMB. Plus average option cost around 0.5 million RMB. And there will be an extra 10% purchase tax after all.

so

(5.9+0.5)*110% = 7.04 million RMB = 1.05 million USD

Therefore the price for 599GTO is just over one million US Dollars in China.

BTW a Bugatti Veyron sells for 4 million US Dollars here and people still buys them.

If you ever been to China or Australia or Singapore, you will be surprised how CCHEEEAAPPPP cars are priced in USA.

I've got this investor from China and he literally LAUGHED at the price on house & cars in the US that's not even funny, he quote "everything is cheaper than dirt in the US".

They say that the brand new offical 458 is something like US$915.000 .

Thats a good way to put it. China has expensive cars because of congestion and pollution problems, so they add a consumption tax on top. US has subsidized gasoline through parking a naval fleet in the mid east + low consumption taxes. US top tax brackets can easily top 50% if you add state, federal, social security, unemployment + medicals.

 

It's all import taxes. Cars produced in China are normal prices. A Mazda 3 is not a $60K car here.

The people who own exotics in China, AU, Singapore etc are in a far different class than the US. Exotic owners the US are moderately wealthy. In China they are seriously rich in most cases. Ask yourself how many 458 owners in the US can really afford a $800K car.

The guy who drives a 458 in the US is probably on par with a 911 owner here.

 

430 was around 950,000,000 COP = 425,000 USD
458 is 1,200,000,000 COP = 600,000 USD

 

In Singapore, the base price of a 458 is US$695,810. It would be interesting to have a chart showing the price of a 458 in different parts of the world. Unfortuantely, Singapore will be rank rather high up.

 

im paying US$ 500K+ for a 458 in Taiwan, options alone is close to a 100K.

 

thailand beat all of this. we are paying 800,000 usd for a normal 458 with ZERO option. if u add led steering wheel it is another 20,000 usd, electric seat for 8,000 more. we beat singapore. to my knowledge singapore and thailand are worst on this planet when it come to super car..............but luckily we still got **** load of ferrari here. a used 430 with 10k mile and over still cost nearly 500,000 usd. this is unfair.

I wonder how much will a 458 Italia cost in Saudi Arabia, or Dubai? Those guys are rich too!

All of these comments re China are missing the point - the car is expensive because of the import duty. There will be no ability to mess with that on a brand new model so there is no arbitrage opportunity. The car pre-tax is the same price as the US

 

DM 18 is spot on. The price difference in most markets boils down to the import duties. Probably Thailand and Singapore has one of the highest import duties which in turn translate to higher consumer price. With stupid prices, there is still a one yr wait list for a 458. Singapore also probably has the highest concentration of Lamborghini LP 670 SV. The local dealer sold 20 pcs at US$1.11m a piece. We get the honor of special previews of new lamborghinis before it turns up at auto shows. In Singapore we are car crazy.

 

It's quite an eye opener to see what some of you guys have to pay for your toys. Not nice.

 

My understanding is that a 458 owner ALSO has to purchase a 10 year 'Certificate of Entitlement' (COE) to operate the car in Singapore that would cost another $300-400K for a 458. And that doesn't cover insurance, etc. So about one million in total. Does this sound about right?
