I can't directly address your question from personal experience, but my cousin has owned over 30 Ferraris in his lifetime (including an Enzo he currently owns), and his 458 is fitted with Daytonas. I guess it's a matter of personal choice and perhaps someone who wants his car to be as much like a track car as possible will opt for the racing seats while another person might want to look for seats with heritage, so it's a personal choice in the final analysis. Do what appeals to you and you won't go wrong. I've read that all the seats are supremely comfortable, including the racing seats, so you shouldn't find comfort to be an issue. I'm going to order power Daytonas when my turn to order comes up.

I've sat in both. I prefer the racing seats. They are harder, but for some reason seem to provide more support.

The racing seats are also lighter (at least the seat back feels lighter) and they look cooler.

I have not sat in both of these for prolonged periods, so I don not know how they feel after a while.

Daytona's for Street use, and Racing Seats if you track the car.

I tried the standard seats and couldn't get comfortable so I ordered the racing seats.

I have both: 2001 550 Barchetta with the racing seats and a 2004 575 Maranello with the Daytona seats.

I drove the 575 from Dallas to Calgary, Alberta in 2.5 days in total comfort.
You would not be able to do that sitting in the racing seats.
I think the racing seats look cool, but are as Tony said, for the track and short driving periods.

The racing seats in the 458 are a totally different design to those in the 550. They have far better shaping and padding and are very comfortable.

I've sat in both & I prefer the racing seats in the 458 Italia. Just make sure to get the right size.
