That was actually done by a design student in Pininfarinas contest a few years back. It was one of the finalists. Never supposed to be anything more than what it was though, so that's where the publication was full of it.

I dont think the SSC is copying the P4/5, more just moving forward with design and time. I think we will find many cars looking not disimilar to the P4/5 and SSC in the next decade and that is not a bad thing.

Its now looking like concept designs are becoming reality

I couldnt disagree more with this. Since when is it not copying to "move forward with the design." That in itself is essentially copying the design and trying to add a personal touch. Its a great design, ill agree with that, but if you want to establish yourself as a prominent supercar mfg, you have to do something unique. And copying Jims car I think is a tacky attempt at doing just that considering Jim is a lover of 1 off's and essentially I feel they are somewhat robbing him of that....

As Jim said earlier, Jason Castriota heavily influenced the aesthetics of the Ferrari P 4/5 by Pinifarina and is also the lead designer of the Shelby SuperCars Ultimate Aero... it's hardly surprising that you can see some similarities in two designs touched by the hand of the same stylist. :)

Most cars borrow aesthetics from their predecessors in much the same way that when any discipline is advanced it will be by building upon the accomplishments already made and skills already learned. Starting completely from scratch isn't something that's done very frequently - and often those who advertise that they started "from scratch" didn't really, they were just more subtle in borrowing ideas.

Jim says he sees where it has borrowed from P 4/5, but he also acknowledges that P 4/5 did some borrowing of its own... he doesn't appear to be unhappy about it, so I'm not sure why you still are.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Which is fine. I guess I have never really had many positive feelings towards the car to start with so that heavily influences my resentment. I understand that the same guys worked on both cars and I know that tends to happen often (jag and aston i believe had a similar designer), I just feel for a car to be truly revolutionary like the SSC UA is trying to be, its gotta be an original design. You want to run with the likes of Pagani, Koenigsegg and such, you have to come out with a truly unique design. Im not mad about it, just think its silly.

awesome video. thanks for putting all this together and sharing it. its funny, in the video you say that it lets people feel like they are a part of it. and it does. so much so that i laughed because just last week i watch a documentary called "teenage paparazzo" where they talk about parasocial relationships that people have with celebrities due to stuff like people magazine. i never felt that way because "celebrities" never were like that to me, but after watching this video, it almost feels the same way. in a weird way, i guess your project, and the MM enzo project create that for us car nuts.
