I remember seeing pictures of the Miura in an old book I have. Must admit, I've never heard of that name related to motorsport.

The Miura book is from "Coltrin & Marchet", a first reference for so many years !

When I started my quest to find Lamborghini models who were driven in racing, this one was an easy chase of 2 years... Mark Rigg used it only a few times before it ended in a workshop before being fully restored in UK to SV specifications.

That conversion is not superb while looking at frame welding, but overall shape looks good. I discovered it finally in Switzerland in the "Renaud collection". VIN is #3516...

    Hi

Yes, that's the book. So the yellow car is the very same one? Well good to see that it didn't get totally wrecked when it was raced. Were there many Lamborghinis that were actually raced throughout the world? I can't think of another one that I've heard of racing in the UK for instance.

Is the car in your avatar the one that was (I believe) entered into the LeMans 24 Hours some years ago?

Ah, I've just done a quick search on the last bit! :)

That's a really nice colour. Saw one similar to that colour on a German tv show once.

Are Miuras tiring to drive for three hours, or are they okay? I seem to remember lots of criticism about arm & leg positions!

Yes, it is #6009, the 3rd Islero produced, still a prototype.
It took me so many years to find it finally in 2008. Since, I bought it and it is under full restoration with no spare of costs. You can go in the Islero thread and discover more about it.

I saw a small feature on the car in a UK magazine some months ago, I think it was Classic & Sportscar or Classic Cars. I was a bit surprised that one had been entered into LeMans. Will have a look at the thread, good luck with the rebuild.

They are tiring when you try to cross Europe with it. But 3 hrs with a Miura on very nice open country roads is a delight! Really enjoyed it!

Bet you're still smiling. Your car looks identical to the one I saw on German tv, right down to the gold sills and wheels with silver spinners and single black wing mirror. Did the driver's door on your car ever have a small dent just next to the Bertone badge?

    If Lamborghinis were movies...

The Countach would be Star Wars... Fantasy in a way we'd never seen it before.

The Diablo would be Predator... Fast, fierce and a little scary.

The Murcielago would be Close Encounters Of The Third Kind... beautifully executed, but a bit heavy.

    The Miura... would be Emmanuelle.

How could anyone design a better Miura than Giugiaro?

However, #4891 also had put up the wing in the past.

Without reading all 8000 posts can someone sum up the driving experience of the Miura. I've yet to drive one and would like to know what car it handles the most like. Does the car have torque not unlike the old muscle cars of the 60's with big block chevy and fords but act nimble like a 70's 911? Does it feel as silky as it's lines?

I am so anti new Lambo but I can't get this beautiful car out of my mind. It's got soul and pose that make you want more. I hope to drive one soon.
