My GTO is a few weeks away and I'm just debating if I should bother keeping the 458 For you guys that already have the GTO, are there any times you would use a 458 instead of your GTO?
I dont have either but honestly on paper the cars are so different that each will offer something unique, if I were in your position and I could keep both I would, at least for a while to decide if I preferred one over the other. By virtue of its DSG gearbox the 458 may be a bit happier in city driving than the GTO.
The only way I would keep both. Is if the 458 was a spider. Keep the GTO, sell the coupe. If you really need to replace it. Wait for the 458 spider and have the best of both worlds. Kind of have the same problem. Selling my 09 Scud when my GTO arrives in Nov. If i need a second car the 458 drop top would be it..... Or maybe I'd wait for the 458 Scud. Tough call either way . Good Luck. PS. You can always wait a year. If you still think your missing something. Pick up another 010 458 coupe for about 65K less next year and still get close to top dollar for the new one your trading out of today.
LOL. To answer the initial question: The 458 Italia is an awesome car. No doubt. But the GTO gives you a much better feeling. All that can be erect is erect when you drive that thing. 458 gets you excited but certainly not to the same degree the GTO does. Speed racer made a good point though. Get the 458 Spider (will be easier than getting an SA Aperta ). Would be a great pair to have.
I traded my 458 for my GTO Both are exceptional cars, but the Gto is a limited edition, has a 12 cylinder that really expresses itself (I have an XX, so I have an idea about that!), has a front end that is magical, has a gearbox that is well, a gearbox and is a "man's car" The 458 is simply wonderful. Beautiful too. Also a (Ferrari) mass produced car and I had enjoyed it immensely and wanted out before loosing on the value. Here there are a good number of low mileage cars for sale so prices will begin / have begun to drop. The GTO is a keeper. Part of a collection perhaps. The 458 is not....
Give your dealer your 458 to sell now and they will probably accelerate you on the Spyder list for early 2012.By then the "new" will be worn off your GTO and you will be ready to feel the wind in your face in your new machine. You will also have a Ferrari combo that many would say is perfect.Congratulations on your present garage which is awesome.
