Just wondering why nobody bid? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lamborghini-Diablo-/130436519952?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item1e5e9f5810
Sounds like a deal but was the car in an accident? Anyway exotics that are not true collectables are very hard to sell now it seems. nobody's wants to put up any money
This car was advertised at ZR Auto website and they asked about 80k cad. See on the frond bumper US and Euro side markers at the same time!!!!
It did belong to Rhyno. I PM'ed him on it. I would love to have had it at this price, but I couldn't get my ducks in a row that fast. When I first checked the auction it showed "reserve not met" so I just figured it would have a $65k reserve or something of that nature. Well, it makes me think twice when I look at other MY91 - 92's listed for $70k and $80k.
The mileage is fine. The problem I see, is that the car is in Canada. I considered a different car in Canada just last week. The real bottom line was that I don't have a passport (I am getting one anyways, just one more reason), shippers don't want to touch a car across the US border. If I found a shipper I am sure it would have been very $$$$$. I could not find anyplace with Lamborghini experience that could do the ppi. So my option looked like blindly wiring what I consider a large amount of money, hoping that the car was as said, and then using something like uship to move it. Then there is what kind of legal trouble could one could find if something did go wrong in another country.
I have seen guys taking cars from Canada (Countach and Urraco) without too much issues but they were driving it back... I was wondering why. The market is also awful. The orange Countach not sold for 65K and the White 400S gone at $77K - 1 bid!!! At these prices both cars are bargains. I think we are not done yet with falling price unfortunatly. The non-collectables (that was an S3) are not moving. If only the ford GT could go below 70K too...
I wouldnt buy anything from Calgary Alberta = Scam Capital Years ago I got screwed by a nice guy from there and the law enforcement were not very helpful.... neither were the lawyers.
I have seen the 91 blue diablo several times and it is a very nice car.It sat at zr auto for a long time and i guess they just wanted it gone.A few months ago i offered 40k cash and a 30k plus trade for this diablo but was turned down.To see it sell for 50k and change kind of funny.I hope the new owner enjoys it.
TFX International will bring anything down to you guys in the US from Canada.......they are great. Exotics are their specialty and I've used them a bit over the last 10 years. http://www.tfxinternational.com/
I have had a few clients who were scammed and there was no recourse. If you are going to buy a car out of the country, you had better beware. Do not wire any money for a deposit. Go see the car personally or have someone you know and trust put their hands on it. Check the paper work carefully. If the car is 1968 or older, almost anything can be transported into the US. After 1968 the car must meet DOT standards and the newer it is the harder it is to get the car to conform to US standards. Be especially careful with diablos as they do not meet crash standards for the US and to meet the standards is very expensive. I repeat this: DO NOT WIRE ANY MONEY. DO NOT PUT MONEY INTO A SO CALLED ESCROW ACCOUNT THAT THE SELLER RECOMMENDS. AND IF A CAR IS TOO CHEAP WHY WOULDN'T A DEALER BUY IT? IF THE PRICE IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE THERE IS A REASON. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE.
The pics were taken last winter in the zr parking lot.The car is real and it is the best deal ever on a diablo if it is running with no problems.I talked to the owner of the car last week and he said it was running and if i had more parking i would have bid for sure
I don't care if you talked to the owner last week. If you are thinking of buying this car you need to touch it. I know a number of guys who talked to the owners of these cheap cars and are out a lot of money because they didn't do their homework properly. BUYER BEWARE. It doesn't hurt to buy the best but ,it will hurt you if you don't.
This car is for real and did sell for very cheap. The new owner will be very happy as this was a great buy!
...............................................................I would say that being its a Canadian Ebay auction , nobody in the USA would have seen it unless they went to the Canada ebay listings , perhaps if it was in the USA listings it might have went higher , but I agree, few people in the US would have bid for a car that is outside the U.S.
There's a Diablo in California on ebay. A '99 I believe. Looks to be half decent shape. It needs new rims as they've all been curbed and needs tranny work Slips out of 4th gear. If I remember correctly, they wanted $75k for it.
ONLY if the Canadian seller has checked the box to be listed in USA E-bay as well..same for US..I from time to time have it cross listed in Canada..the fee remains same..ONLY USA or both country listings.. Also not mentioned here is the 2.5% US Customs Duty that would be do on the Canada car..as ANY car that did not orginate or was manufacutured in or for the USA market as when it was new...
.................................................................................................................................................. Yes you are right , you just go to Canada Ebay , and the seller in Canada can list it in the USA Ebay also , i allways everyday search Ebay for Lamborghini, and did not see this car on USA Ebay , but I could have missed it .
Wait.. what? Diablos don't meet US DOT crash standards? And I thought after a vehicle is 25 years old you can import it into the US pretty much at will without certs or modifications.
Interesting. Would you mind to tell us the reason for selling it after such a brief ownership? I ask because it may help people to understand the actual market. You bought it in an auction isn't it? Regards.
