From what I have read. The times for qualifying are faked(using an algorithm based on ???) but for the race the times are real.

Therefore people struggle with qualifying then destroy in a race.

That happened to me a few times now. Bad qual but top 3 in the race. Pole qual, win be over 20secs in race.

Anyone struggling with race starts? If I'm on pole I tend to get overtaken but if I'm at the back I can usually pass a few cars into the 1st corner. I have tried different revs at the start but the car seems to get off the line more or less the same. I wish they put the lights on the screen(like those white dots for countdown) I cannot see the light tree if I'm all the way at the back

Still no sign about a patch eta :(

I've had an engine blow. It's the same effect as when a big crash happens. Big bang, screen goes red, damage to car.

    Thank you! Good to know!

Now I can move on to the race (after 3 nights of practice, trying to find time. . . LOL!! )

I have to applaud them for at least communicating with the playerbase that they are working on the issue.

This is so weird but I got close to the end of my first season last night and I'm terrible at the Asian circuits. I don't know why but my worst races so far have been China, Singapore and Japan, and I haven't even tried Korea yet. I won Spa by 12 seconds and the same with Germany and Hungary, just very odd.

Any notice how cautious the lolly pop man is? I was second when I went into the pits at Catalunya tonight and I came out last after I sat and watched every car go by :(

Well I finished my first season WDC, only 2 points in front of Hamilton, the last race was so close. I had to put it down to intermediate to overcome my DNF at Singapore and 19th place at Japan.

Mentioned in the thread a few times now ;) It's an actual bug. What you need to do is change your pitstop strategy and try to come in at least 2-3laps later to avoid most of the cars coming in at the same time.

I'm not sold on this thing without a patch. I played it for a bit at a friend's house and the warts combined with the lethargic, pointless UI makes me want to punch someone's kitten. To top things off, it has an anesthetic quality about it from the lack of sensation of speed to the aggressive race nannying.

All this is strange because it's the same crew that made Dirt 2 which is massively, hugely fun.

It's not the same crew. Same company different studio. They have 3 studios in the UK and F1 and DIRT are made at different locations.

Yeah if you haven't bought it yet I'd suggest to hold off till a patch.. tho looking at the list of bugs we will probably need multiple patches.

That explains everything. This game was made by the accountants studio.

Need for Speed: Shift is surprisingly very good and I recommend it for those that want to get their race on while waiting for patches for F1 2010.

Played a few races online with a mate today. You level playing private matches so that's easy to get to lvl 50.

Racing was great fun! We played with and without collisions. One race tho my friend spun out and because there was "waved yellow" flags I was given a 10sec penatly for passing him..... lame. Every other time there hasn't been a penalty.

Finally I got the game at gamestop. Best Buy never came through.

Played my first race at Bahrain driving for HRT. Didn't really encounter a lot of the problems described (no miracle spins, no strange pitstop, AI cars behaving just fine).

My only/biggest problem was not knowing the newly designed sector two of the track. Even after two hours I still can't memorize that section, it is so strange.

I'm somewhat disappointed with the FFB and the physics engine: If this is based on DIRT2 then they really dampened/toned down the FFB and the feel for the car: In DIRT2 the responsiveness of the car was much sharper. I was expecting something along the lines of the openwheel dirt racer just without the gravel, but these F1 cars are much more sluggish.

However the race is utterly unrealistic: Schumacher beat Rosberg ;)

I don't buy a lot of it, whenever a good driver (Hamilton, Alonso) gets stuck in the back their laptimes drop as if they were in one of the slower cars and whenever a slow driver gets up front their lap times increase. I really like this game and it is fun, but having to work around all the glitches and faults really gets old after awhile. There are so many little things that just make no sense.

really there are no glitches that bother me other than being held in the pits to long and some AI not pitting. That can ruin a race for me. Other than that, i dont see any other bugs that have been described.

Like I said, ffb is a gimmick. It's good for letting you know when you are riding a curb...but I know that from looking at the screen. In Dirt2, ffb only lets you know when you've left the track. And again, I know this by looking at the screen.

The problem with this game is that it tries to mesh in simulation, but one aspect of simulation that cannot be replicated is g-force (you can replicate it, but be prepared to spend $$$$$), and you just can't put that on a rumble controller and expect good results. It's not a pure arcader and it's not a sim and it fails in its presentation of trying to mix the two. Gran Prix Legends should be a compulsory game for any devs making a driving game (hint: don't bother with the sim thing. You will fail).

The core of the game is not fun and with the bugs and the ****ty UI puts this game firmly into the **** category. They could patch out all the bugs and warts and it would still be a solid 5 on a scale of 0 to 10. It's not fun, it's not exciting, and more than anything it's a pain in the ass, what with that idiot ***king UI, lame gameplay and boring graphics.
