    Not true

In DiRT2 the FFB tells you exactly whether the car under- or oversteers long before you are going off. The same is true for F1 2010, but the effect is much more diminished, which is surprising if they indeed use the same engine.

Racing is all about taking the car to the edge of adhesion. Riding it on that balance between control and spin out. For that you need some tacticle pointers on where that limit is. IRL your butt tells you that to some degree. You probably get these pointers from the visuals (which is one way). I'm getting these pointers through my fingertips feeling the different levels of force on the wheel (plus from the visuals as well).

FFB is not a gimmick and everybody who plays a racing game with a regular controller is missing out on feedback plus on the more realistic/normal machine-human interface. Unless the interior of your car looks like below:

After driving an entire GP I haven't seen one bug. Maybe it was luck, maybe not. The game is a lot of fun and simply the best/only thing we have today with current F1 cars/drivers/tracks. On a scale of 10 this is about a 7 or 8.

I'm up to the Hungarian GP and to be honest have not really had any bugs other than the overly cautious lolly pop man.

I really like this game :)

    Second race, still no bugs.

The policing about cutting corners is a bit annoying as are the constant engine temp warnings, but nothing that's really a show stopper. Even the dreaded interviews are few and far between.

What "bothers" me more is the absolute lacsadisical woman of an agent. I'm waxing my team mate and overachieve the results and she sits there like a lump. IRL the reactions would be different. But the previous game (F1 Championship) was similar and its non response or canned responses.

On the plus side the graphics are awesome, the sound is good (I wish to hear more tire sound for feedback) and I'm happy they did a decent job with the car being taken in and out of the pits. And that they got rid of those ridiculous pitstops where you to press the X and O and God knows what else to progress (which is a major pain on a wheel anyway).

PS: I can't say whether some competitors don't pit. But as long as I have to climb the ropes in a lowly HRT I really don't care where I end up as long as I meet the objectif (assuming that will eventually get me an offer from a better team).

    Yeap those are bugs ;)

There are no show stoppers. The game works, it hasn't crashed on me yet but its all the annoying little bugs that's hurting it

Shanghai seems to be one of the tracks with the AI no pitting bug. :(

The race start was great went from 6th to 2nd in a lap. Vettel was leading, my early pace I couldn't match him so he was slowly disappearing into the distance... only he pitted on lap 4 so I took the lead. Webber was just behind but I was able to keep the gap. Lap 8 Webber pits and Lap 9 I pit.

Then 5 cars pass me all yet to pit including Schumacher who takes the lead from me. I get out of the pits just ahead of Vettel. It looked like it was going to be a battle between us for the win... only with 2 laps to go now of the cars that past me pitted... I then had to push just to get 5th place from Chandok... Race over 5th from a potential win :( it would of been nice to battle Vettel to the end but instead I was trying to pass a HRT and STR...

still no eta of a patch

Besides the ai not pitting the cars laptimes being set by where in the field they are is the most annoying thing, ie slow drivers doing fast laptimes once in front and vice versa, it seems like the car and the driver don't matter.

Exactly the same thing happened to me, as Speedcore suggested just pit a couple of laps later than the proposed strategy wants you to and it wont happen again.

Started 10th in the rain at Australia, had to pit twice, so I settled for a 12th. This was my second attempt at the race...and it froze again on loading. Looks like I'm doing Australia again tonight.

I just got the game and I haven't found any bugs. Seems OK to me so far once you figure out how to drive the car. Shanghai is giving me fits but i'll get it sorted out. I used the Sauber and I've got 3 poles and three wins so far. Gonna have to set the difficulty higher, it seems.....

Ya, PC. I've had it happen several times randomly. I've tried changing a few settings but no luck.

Ten years ago I only used PC based sims because they are the best with the most options to tweak. But I would fight forever with underpowered hardware and misconfigured software. So I decided to go console only. And for the most part I have no regrets. You buy your hardware once and you are set for five years and no software issues

I debated on getting it for the PS3, but ultimately it was cheaper for PC and the hopes of modifications were there. Besides, GT5 is already on pre-order. :)

Tried Australia again. Pit crew bug put me to 16th, tires wore incredibly quick and didn't seem to effect anybody else. i managed a 16th on red tires...then it froze during loading again.

    Latest news on the patch....

Update: The team have been working through a masterlist of issues, and are making good progress. Various issues have been through the preliminary testing process, and once the patch is complete a build will go in for siginificant testing time.

As soon as I have more news, it'll get posted here.

    Caldera.

They need to add a change in the patch. Instead of "Tire Simulation" they should call it "Blow a Tire on the Last Lap".

So I started my first 3 year season with Sauber. After winning Shanghai and Catalunya, been struggling many nights practicing at Monaco. Thanks again to Savoy6, I've been able to get down to 1:21.6. I'm several seconds off many players -- is it because I'm using a controller instead of a wheel? Many have posted being in the mid to low teens at Monaco.

Anyways, my autosave got corrupted, then had to restart. Chose Toro Rosso this time, but was spinning everywhere -- with zero throttle and zero brakes.

So restarted again, this time with Lotus. WOW! Handles so much better than STR and Sauber!

So I easily win Bahrain, and figure I'll just win all races, being pissed at having to restart because of the autosave glitch. Well, wouldn't you know it, I'm several seconds off everyone at Australia, although I easily dominated the last time through.

I'm perceiving "rubber-banding", after any race I win, the next stage practice I'm seconds behind everyone. If I finish a race with a poor result, the next stage practice/race are very easy. CodeMasters have written, "the AI is complicated."

In a nutshell, the rubber-banding sucks -- very annoying.

    Anyone else?

The times are fake in practice and qualifying as posted above. They might use some sort of algorithm to factor for the following race but it's not really rubber-banding unless you noticed it happen during the race.

As you seen with your corrupted save-game (ouch btw :( ) the game is broken, till they get a patch out we don't really know if it's intentional or not...

I'd be surprised if anyone can match wheel times with a controller.

I noticed the start teams are different with every new driver I started. 1st time I had only 3 teams to choose from and now more recent I had 5 or 6 teams...
