If it doesnt sell Ill keep it and enjoy it. It is truely a very nice car.

 

Curious to know what dealers are giving CS's on trades. Anybody know? I didn't come across this topic in the thread (unless I missed it somewhere).

 

isn't it interesting that most of us CS owners all had greatest of intentions to "keep the car forever" but it rarely works out that way...

With the CS being such a 'special' car, what temps you to want a 430, Scud, 16m, etc..? Not to keep quoting Jeffrey, but he labeled it as the baby Enzo. So how could you not be content?

 

If it's the same Jeffrey I'm thinking of, he sold his CS to a guy local to me Isn't changing cars kind of what car guys do?

I looked at it yesterday. Pretty nice shape but it had a sign on it to not fully close the doors...the windows would hit the trim. The interior was very nice. A little scraped up under the nose and the red paint was coming off the engine intake covers.

Your car is absolutely stunning and appears super clean. Thanks for the photos. If the stripe wasn't important to me I would be jumping on this one. There's nothing like selling to an F-car virgin that would take great pride and care for the car!

 

Yes. The black one is Jeffrey's former CS.

 

It is totally what car guys do but with the CS you hear "better than any modern car" "would never sell it" "more soul and passion than anything on the road new or old"...trust me, because I've said it about my prior two CSs. Not to thread hijack but it is curious to me

 

I understand, some like the stripe and some hate the stripe............I personally am not a fan of it.

 

Here in the UK a number of the Official dealers offer the option of an exact replica factory painted stripe for the CS to match original factory specified version (done at Ferrari approved paint shops) - thoughts?

 

yes there are some aftermarket kits here also........I believe Chris has a similar one on his 360 spyder.

 

When a Stradale customer ordered 'the stripe' option on his brand new Ferrari he got a stripe decal installed at the factory. It wasn't painted on there. The stripe tends to divide people; some consider it a must and others don't need it. Beyond that if the factory didn't put the stripe on then for some collectors a stripe added later doesn't carry the same weight (importance) as a factory installed stripe option...
With all that said a painted stripe with clear coat on top to remove any stripe edge where it meets the body would be the most professional looking job. Simply using the decal gives an easy way out if you tire of having the stripe present on the car.

It may be the principal of the "hedonic treadmill" at work. First articulated by psychologists in the late 1960s, the hedonic treadmill speaks to the phenomenon of human adaptation. We buy something new, we're thrilled with it, then we get used to it, then we want something bigger and better and we're unhappy when we don't get it and the cycle goes on and on.

 

When I was first looking for a CS I have to admit that I was with you. I like to keep things clean. The more I've researched and looked at the car I have really taken a liking to the stripe. It really is a signature of the CS. I do plan to hold on to the car (I know, that is what I say now..) and do believe there is long term value to the stripe. With that said, I still totally understand why some choose not to have it.

 

I am told 100% certain by Ferrari dealers (2) that the factory stripe is painted originally at the factory (not, I say definitely not a sticker), lacquered in and is totally smooth to touch except on the returns. A number of owners I see on the forums seem to say even the factory stripe is a sticker which is lacquered - anyone know for sure, can't believe a £3k factory option was a sticker? The reason I tend to believe the paint route is that talking with my local dealer they have had to reject 2 Scuds from the factory with factory stripes due to colour bleed on the edges - this can't be as sticker.

 

Its a fact that the OEM stripe from the Factory is a "sticker". Sad but true.
