All replies to the stripe question much appreciated and having read many threads on here I realise the big guns with regards to CS knowledge have come back with sticker as the answer, haven't even collected mine yet so I know nothing... But, a friend of mine with a factory striped CS has actually just popped his bonnet, checked o so carefully and is convinced that the hidden return areas that feels like a sticker edge is just an un-lacquered paint edge. Also, having just spoken with the local Ferrari dealer and following a phone call by them to Ferrari they have again confirmed painted stripe not sticker for original factory option - thoughts please. They have added that there is no factory option to buy a replacement sticker, damaged cars have to have the stripe repainted when repaired at the body shop.

Back in 2004-2005 my dealer also clung to the myth that the factory stripe was paint.....its not. I've even been told that there is a Ferrari part # for the stripe decal; one of the Ferrari parts gurus on the FChat might even be able to produce the number.

Cool! While I was typing, stokpro produces the data!

Many thanks. Armed with the Ferrari part number I will see what the dealer has to say now! As a matter of interest has anyone had the stripe fitted and lacquered in to match factory supplied feel and finish?

It's amusing & sad at the same time to see how little the dealerships know about these cars. It's a decal, no doubt about it. Like someone else said... you can see the sticker wrap around the edge when you inspect the under side of the engine bonnet (seen it with my own eyes). Some people just want to believe... :)

I didn't realize I would start such a healthy discussion around "the stripe". I would love to get back to discussing the best available CS's in the market and what seems to be the current market value for a clean one?

Incorrect. The factory stripe is a white sticker with painted stripes then placed on the car and clear coated. I know because i bought one from the factory for $1,300US for my CS

Are you getting the CS bug again? I'm thinking about it myself.

My God that car is gorgeous. Do you have any idea of the price? Not wishing to pry, just trying to get a sense of the market price when purchased from a Ferrari dealer.

The Fchatter mentioned above didn't buy the giallo CS, but picked up another very, very nice example. I'll let him do the honors once it arrives. So who's the lucky cat that bought the giallo one??

Derek, Interesting how that's worked out. It's still languishing on Ebay at $109K
