Hi i have recently purchased a 1988 328 gts and would like to know if the sheild decal on the front fenders was an option in 1988 , as the car does not have them but i like the look of them.
Would it be a crime in the Ferrari world to add the decals if they were not an option of that year ?
    Cheers
    Shane.

Don't do it .. cries out Look At Me. Count the number of prancing horses on the car now and ask yourself why you need yet another one. BTW .. never was an option.

If you like them put them on. Every Ferrari screams "Look at me."
And they usually aren't stickers, but are metal/ceramic sheilds.

You will find NO real answer except for what you want for yourself. If YOU want to put them on there then go right ahead - its YOUR car and YOU paid for it. So, do whatever you like. Dont seek out approval from the general Ferrari community because you will find that there is a divide and no right or wrong answer.

If you are going to get them go with the ones from Yoshield.com. The owner of Yoshield is a fellow FChatter. Check them out - they are extremely high quality - the best out there IMO.

I'm not going to get into the "shields or no-shields" discussion, but if you are so inclined I also recommend YoShield. I bought a pair and the quality is excellent. Sometimes he has specials on his website, so it's worth checking out from time to time. (I think I got my pair half-off when he switched to a slightly thinner shield as mine are the thicker ones.)

My 84 GTS, came with metal shields. Most people think they came on the car from the factory. Its your car put them on if you like them. I like them.

Shields have no place on a 328 unless you turn it into a track/race car. They don't look good on that model and anyone that knows anything about Ferrari's instantly knows that it is incorrect. With all that being said - it's your car and do what you want.

in my humble opinion ferrari shields do not belong on ferrari roadcars.

it's kinda like beatle wigs that were the scream when i was a yute.

    Hey Bill,

Since I have a cousin also named Vinnie, I gotta know, are you one of the 'two yutes'?

    Ciao,

    Vincent

P.S. My 328GTB had shields when I got it. I'm not too crazy about them but have been reluctant to take them off since the paint underneath is probably a lot brighter red than the rest of the body.

Thanks to all for Your opinions/tips !
Sorry if I reignited a mini war of to shield or not to shield.
Personally I think they add to the look of any Ferrari , I will be contacting Yoshi and putting the icing on my cake.
    Cheers
    Shane!!

    Shane,

You needn't apologize. The "mini war" will continue despite your recent inquiry.

My 1976 308 GTB is getting a little to old to continue tracking, so I use my 550 for those puposes now. I honor Luigi Chinetti's North American Racing Team by placing these static-cling NART decals on my 550 for track days.

Unless you're going for a full "Napolis" style install, PLEASE do it with magnetic attachments. I did it that way, and took the shields off after a few months. They haven't been back on since, and that was about 8 years ago. They look good on my tool box though.

A Ferrari being enjoyed as it was intended - Love the NART stickers, if I had a track car like that I would consider over sized Scuderia stickers for shields.

99 % of Ferrari owners will not see your car on the street to dispute legallity. Bragging rights go to the owner. Badge it so there is no question. I think it fits right in w/ the fender curves so do it. Otherwise people might think you are driving a Trans Am.

The guy that's doing this is an expert on Ferrari in fact he (Napolis) is the guy who owns the P4/5 and he's doing it the right way.
