Diablo (if I can say that) Replica: SOMEONE PLEASE DIP THIS CAR IN OIL AND THROW A MATCH ONTO IT! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think this has been posted before. I actually think it's kind of cute, and it doesn't offend me like so many other replicas do, since it lacks the badging, and therefore the pretense, of the bad Fiero, MR2, and Datsun 240-based kits that actually try to convince you they're Ferraris, Lamborghinis, or whatever. I see this as more of a good-natured caricature.
Worst GTO replica ever? http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/08/weirdwdc10---51.jpg http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/08/weirdwdc10---52.jpg
And a Dino http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/08/weirdwdc10---58.jpg I found these in a Woodward cruise gallery on Autoblog.com btw!
That's not a terrible looking car for one that's obviously a kit, but it doesn't begin to resemble a Dino. Is that really what they claimed to be copying? It's bad, but not the worst "GTO" replica I've ever seen. Those wheels are a travesty, though.
Not a replica, but this is hilarious http://harrisburg.craigslist.org/cto/1897184941.html It's a Civic with an Integra front end... This is being sold local to me
Batchen 1982 FERRARI TESTAROSSA, (just missing some strakes) http://www.recycler.com/details/-34987684/1982-ferrari-testarossa
Well crappy or not, I would buy this replica/tribute/recreation in a flash. Someone lend me six figures. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-330-P4-Recreation-/120630873618?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item1c16290e12#ht_27291wt_1167 Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'll take a stab at that question... Because, Bradley, only three Ferrari 330 P4s were ever made. Of those three, two are privately owned by gentlemen who don't want for money, while the third is in a museum in France - none are for sale. A fourth car, the P3/4 (originally built as a P3 but modified by Ferrari to a P4), is owned by Jim Glickenhaus... and I dare say he's not selling either. I often cringe when someone tries to replicate a production Ferrari like a 355 or a 360... there are plenty of them about and the only reason to make a fake is to try to appear wealthier than you are. For the same money, you could have bought a 308 and had a genuine Ferrari. However, this case is a bit different. It's not just that the genuine P4 is unaffordable, it's unavailable even to those who might have the resources to acquire them. If you really want one, then a tribute really is the only other option to perpetual disappointment after a lifetime of waiting for one to come up for sale. All the best, Andrew.
Found a thread on Norwood P4 replicas. Did not read all of it, but seems like this guy knows what he is doing (did) and is well repected by those who have seen his product. BTW car is all aluminium and as true to the original as possible http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=126777
It is built to specs of the original and has a genuine Ferrari 12 cylinder. What's not to like? It is not a replica, but rather a recreation. And quite frankly: For all the reasons Neurobreaker lists I'd even settle for something less authentic as long as it has a Ferrari heart. As Enzo said: The engine is the Ferrari. The car is just something to put the engine into.
Agree Andreas! Who wouldn't want this car in their livery. I know people that have recreations in their stables that cost 6 figures. With Ferrari chassis and running gear these cars are as real as it gets! Sparky
Remember a genuine Ferrari was sacrificed for this cars engine ... It it was a less than 5 year old Ferrari then that is fine, as there are new cars completed by Ferrari every day to replace the one lost, but we cannot replace old models any more. So if this has a 550 engine, great car but it probably has a 412 engine so not so great ... Pete
Pete, the e-bay advert says the car "has been fitted with fuel injection, like the original, and the engine is a 4-cam Ferrari 365 unit". I can understand how 365 enthusiasts might cringe, but the engine may have come from a car that was otherwise not salvageable. It's difficult to deplore the 'lost' Ferrari when we don't know anything about the history of that specific engine prior to being incorporated into this reproduction. All the best, Andrew.
