You guys seem pretty on top of making sure everyone knows you want Alonso gone. What about the guy who can't make Q3 and can't survive the first turn?

Who knows, maybe this is his way of protesting Ferrari's decision to put their support behind Alonso. You know, that guy that has actually won a race or two this year?

Massa needs to be gone. He may be Alonso's perfect teammate, but I don't see Ferrari taking a constructors championship as long as this guy is still behind the wheel. They gave him a shot to come back after his wreck and so far it's not happening. Bye bye, Massa!

I don't hate the guy, he's just not delivering. He should be up behind Alonso taking points away from the competition and instead he's melting down every chance he gets anymore.

Alonso failed to do so a few times this season as well...on 2 occasions at least Massa did get through all the way to Q1. ;)

I hear what you're saying though. I've defended him for a long time now, not because I think he's the best around but because he's a nice guy...unfortunately thats not enough in F1. **** sucking won't get you anywhere in life, unless your name is Jenna Jameson.

At the start he did get forced onto the grass which led to the crash (haven't seen a replay though), but Ferrari really do need a better #2 now.

Massa, I like you, but you do have to deliver...

The wreck wasn't entirely his fault, but qualifying was. He blamed traffic but the camera was on him the entire time. Every car he blamed was well out of his way!

He's biting the hand that feeds him as of late and he's been hit or miss all season. Less talk, more focus Mr. Massa.

His motivation took a huge hit in Germany Id say. Hard to feel appreciated when they 'hand' the win to your team mate incapable of passing you at the time.

That being said he should leave. No thread needed. He needs to go for his own good. Ferrari are not a real family for him anymore. He doesnt exist in the team with Fernando around. He should get out and enjoy life. He earned it. If he doesnt want to be Rubens as he stated, he should walk. Life is too short.

It's not the first time a win of his has been handed to the other driver. That said it has to sting that it's Alonso who took it.

I completely agree with your post though. Well-said. :)

I was happy with him in the team, particularly since he followed team orders in Germany.

But the qualifying at Suzuka made me really question his motivation to support his team mate.

Whether that was intentional or not is almost irrelevant. The fact is that he didn't support Alonso one bit in Japan by taking away positions/points from Alonso's competitors. In that way he hasn't lived up to the team's expectations and it is time to think about alternatives.

Somehow I have the feeling the team won't sack him until Interlagos is in the books: They know he owns that place and he will be the ace in Alonso's sleeve. Probably after Interlagos the Scuderia will call a press conference.

    +1

Beyond that, I can't believe the hatred. Looking at quali so far this season, he's been the best #2 driver of any of 'em:

    - They've both failed to get out of Q1 twice.
    - They've both failed to get out of Q2 once.
    - Fred has 12 top 5 starts.
    - Phil has 7 top 5 starts.

Hardly a performance worthy of getting fired IMO. [Whether he should choose to move on is a different debate - But where's he gonna go?]

    Cheers,
    Ian

Sacking him in that way would be a very nasty move from the Scuderia. That would probably leave him without a seat for next year. I hope they won´t do that.

I suppose that he will stay at least one year more till he gets tired of moaning about being number two and will make a deal with a mid-field team for 2012.

I still think that Massa can help. He´s doing a decent second half of the season: bad luck in Singapore and a bad day at Suzuka, but two 4th places, one podium and "almost" a win.

Somehow I have the feeling that past November (testing) a seat will become available at Mercedes. ;)

A really nasty response to my speculation would have been:

Why wait till November? Heidfeld gave up the testing seat already...
